441 delegates attended the 9th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union

At the open space of yard 4A of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural House, the Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Youth Union for the 2024-2029 term began working on the morning of November 4.

Also present with 441 official delegates were Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Manh Cuong, and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union Nguyen Xuan Hieu.

Representing 2.35 million young people in Ho Chi Minh City

441 official delegates represent 2.35 million young people in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition to the ex officio delegates, the elected delegates represent 22 Youth Unions of districts, Thu Duc City and 25 city-level clubs, teams and groups.

They are young intellectuals, representing the youth of the city named after Uncle Ho. Among them are outstanding young athletes, young artists, young associate professors and doctors, young workers, students, ethnic minority youth, and religious followers.

Secretary of the City Youth Union - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Ngo Minh Hai spoke at the congress held at the former location of the city's youth struggle named after Uncle Ho, on the street named after the chairman of the first Vietnam Youth Union Congress Pham Ngoc Thach.

"This is an important political event for Ho Chi Minh City's youth, and the association, with its role, has called on generations of young people to be loyal to the Party's flag and act together in many outstanding programs and movements of the city's youth," said Mr. Hai.

Taking place on November 4 and 5, the Congress of Delegates of the Vietnam Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City will evaluate the results of the 2019 - 2024 term.

Discussing the direction of activities for the 2024 - 2029 term in conjunction with the requirement of expanding the solidarity front, gathering young people in the new period as well as establishing the content of youth movement activities for the next 5 years.

Every young person should cultivate dignity and morality. That is the dignity of dedication of young people so that when they grow up, they will be an important pillar for themselves, their family and harmonize the interests of the community and the country.

The congress's action slogan simulates the image of young people.

Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc said that there were delegates who were not born, raised and matured in Ho Chi Minh City but came here to study, work and chose Ho Chi Minh City as a place to live and work and made positive and outstanding contributions.

Becoming an official delegate of the congress is an honor for each of you. Mr. Loc, on behalf of the city leaders, acknowledges your contributions, dedication, and training.

According to Mr. Loc, the congress's slogan "Patriotism - Solidarity - Creativity - Aspiration - Dedication" can be thought of as simulating the image of young people.

Arms reaching straight forward represent aspiration, two hands raised horizontally represent shouldering responsibilities to family and community together. And most of all, when the Fatherland needs us, we act and are ready to contribute.

"Arms forming a circle is solidarity, placing arms on the heart is living with an ideal. So that when there is a request, young people are ready to send a signal from the heart, ready to sacrifice and contribute," said Mr. Loc.

At the opening session, Mr. Ngo Minh Hai called on everyone to join hands to contribute and share with the people of Central Vietnam after the recent flood.

This is also to promote the spirit of charity and the noble image of Ho Chi Minh City youth after the relief activities for the people in the North affected by storm No. 3 Yagi.

The opening session temporarily closed with group discussion.

Delegates will discuss in 5 groups with the following topics:

- City youth start-up, career, innovation (group 1),

- City Youth implements the program "Green Environment - Green Lifestyle" (Group 2),

- Proud of the history of the Vietnam Youth Union and the movement "I love my Fatherland" (group 3),

- Accompanying disadvantaged youth (group 4),

- Improve capacity to organize volunteer activities (group 5).
