At the solemn closing session of the 9th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Youth Union on the morning of November 5, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai said that the organization needs to participate in developing human resources and talents for the city.

According to Mr. Hai, in the era of national growth, the city's development orientation relies mainly on the human factor, first and foremost the youth, who will decide the city's future in the coming decades.

The Association must promote the tradition of patriotism through the movement "I love my Fatherland", considering it an important and regular political task. It must promote the pride and qualities of the young generation of Ho Chi Minh City: solidarity, dynamism, creativity, humanity, tolerance, chivalry, and law-abiding.

Leading the digital economy and digital society

In general, with the Youth Union and Association, Mr. Hai said that we must focus on joining hands with the city to promote intellectual human resources in all fields, open forums for young people and students to think, exchange ideas, promote startups, take the lead in implementing the policy of developing the digital economy, digital society and each young person is a true digital citizen. The Youth Union and Association must proactively discover, attract, nurture talents, and nurture young talents.

"Through practical activities, we will connect, recommend, equip skills, and support the aspirations of progressive youth, helping the city attract, nurture, and promote young talents in the fields of science and technology, culture, society, literature, arts, sports, and build a team of future leaders according to the City Party Committee's project," said Mr. Hai.

On behalf of the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Hai has three "orders" with the Youth Union and the city's youth. That is to join hands with the government to further promote the innovation movement, complete startup database projects, support youth startups; pioneer in building "Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space"; take the initiative to undertake projects and tasks to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.

In response to those instructions, Mr. Nguyen Van Tien - Director of Chu Hoa Company Limited - said that after two days of attending the congress and the speeches of the city leaders, he learned many things.

"I have the opportunity to meet many like-minded young people who want to make the community better, spread green lifestyles, and keep the environment clean. Working in the field of recycling waste collection, I am motivated to contribute to the overall development of the city" - Mr. Tien shared.

Spread the message "I love my country"

Appreciating the work of the Association and the youth movement of Ho Chi Minh City which are constantly innovating with the movement "I love my Fatherland", Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Union Nguyen Kim Quy said that the city focuses on many social resources, quickly approaches new trends, initiates and develops many movements.

The Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Youth Union has always coordinated, regularly supported, shared experiences and resources with local Youth Union organizations in the Southeast region and the whole country. Notably, volunteer activities have attracted hundreds of thousands of young people with the unique characteristics of the city's youth, spreading to all parts of the country.

From the achievements, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union expects that in the new term, the City Youth Union will invest in building a model of Ho Chi Minh City youth with revolutionary ideals, solidarity, pioneering, creative, modern, and full of love for the city and the Fatherland through the movement "I love my Fatherland".

This movement is more meaningful than ever in the context of major economic, political and social changes in the world today. The city's youth must become people with revolutionary ideals, always united, constantly learning, innovating, grasping technology, breaking through and acting for a civilized and modern city.

"That model of youth is not only successful people but also those who dare to dream, dare to think, dare to do, dare to commit, affirm their mettle, live with ambition, and are not afraid of hardships" - Mr. Quy said.

The Association must be a bridge and a reliable support for young people to maximize their entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and digital transformation. In addition, the Association in Ho Chi Minh City is also responsible for leading the youth movement nationwide. This is a challenge that requires each cadre and Association unit in the city to constantly strive, connect and lead the movement.

Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Union of District 6, Phan Vu Tuyet Mai, said she shared these expectations. She said she had participated in the discussion on the topic of accompanying disadvantaged youth at the congress and from the reality that District 6 has a relatively large number of disadvantaged and disadvantaged youth, the District Youth Union Committee has identified caring for disadvantaged youth as one of the key tasks.

"I have listened to many good solutions and ways of working with disadvantaged youth from the discussions and have more ideas to apply in my area," said Ms. Mai.

Donate to schools in Lao Cai and Yen Bai

The project to welcome the congress was presented to the two Provincial Youth Unions of Yen Bai and Lao Cai by Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, Ngo Minh Hai, and Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, Le Tri Thong, at the closing session.

Including the construction of two schools that were severely affected by the recent storm No. 3 Yagi in Yen Bai (4 billion VND) and Lao Cai (2 billion VND). The total cost of 6 billion VND was taken from the mobilization of the program "Towards the North". This project is expected to be completed in 2024.

Project, program, term work

In addition to the projects jointly implemented with the Youth Union and the City Student Association, the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Youth Union has established the project "Supporting youth in starting a business, establishing a career, and innovating" for the 2024-2029 term, along with three programs: Green environment - green lifestyle, Journey of faith and Improving capacity to organize volunteer activities.

Along with that are two projects: Building a youth island in Thanh An island commune (Can Gio district) and Compiling "Chronicles of events of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Youth Union in the city's youth movement (during the resistance war and after 1975 to present)".
