300 artists participate in the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Theater Festival

(NLDO) - The 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Theater Festival is an opportunity for more than 300 artists with 26 plays to show off their talents, bringing the public many new works.

The field of drama art in Ho Chi Minh City has developed strongly, creating brand marks and playing an important role in the development of the Vietnamese theater industry.

The 1st Ho Chi Minh City Theater Festival - 2024 was assigned by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to the Department of Culture - Sports of Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with the Vietnam Theater Artists Association, the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association and related departments and branches to organize. The festival is also one of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

The 1st Ho Chi Minh City Theater Festival - 2024 is dedicated to dramatic arts with both public and private theater art units. Among the 26 plays from 20 art units, many plays feature famous artists such as Meritorious Artist Thanh Hoi, Meritorious Artist Huu Chau, Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc, People's Artist Hong Van, Meritorious Artist Minh Nhi, People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi, Meritorious Artist Tuyet Thu, Meritorious Artist Vu Xuan Trang, artists Ai Nhu, Le Khanh, Chanh Truc...

The 1st Ho Chi Minh City Theater Festival - 2024 is an opportunity to introduce good plays, thereby evaluating the quality of Ho Chi Minh City's theater arts activities, creating conditions for professional theater art units in Ho Chi Minh City to exchange, learn, and share experiences; thereby, contributing to orienting artistic activities, promoting units to build programs and works that are increasingly better and more attractive to the audience.

The performances participating in the Festival must be from 90 minutes to no more than 150 minutes in duration. The performances must have been staged from 2021 to present and have not participated in any professional art competitions or festivals organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, or the Vietnam Stage Artists Association in the recent past.

The 1st Ho Chi Minh City Theater Festival - 2024 takes place from November 12 to 29, with the following contents:

Photo exhibition: Introducing the achievements of Ho Chi Minh City theater through the ages; activities, plays, artists of art units participating in the Festival (at Lam Son Park, District 1 - opposite the City Theater).

Festival Opening Ceremony: 7:30 p.m., November 12; Closing Ceremony and Award Ceremony: 7:30 p.m., November 29 at the City Theater

The Festival Organizing Committee will award Certificates and cash prizes to plays and actors who win Gold Medals, Silver Medals and other awards, and excellent awards (if any) to creative components.
