In 1984, Wei Dong was admitted to the Basic Class (for young geniuses who passed university entrance exams before the age of 18) of Fudan University, majoring in Physics. Entering the university at the age of 15, he achieved many outstanding results. During his studies, Wei Dong was guided in his research by the famous Physics professor Xie Xi De, who was also the principal of Fudan University at that time.

In 1988, after graduating from university with honors, he wanted to continue his studies for a master's degree. To nurture his passion for nuclear physics, Wei Dong joined the CUSPEA program founded by Nobel laureate Professor Li Zhengdao, which aims to select young talents to study abroad in the United States. This program has trained leading scientists and professors in physics in China.

However, after the incident of scientist Ly Van Ha, the US adjusted its talent training plan and banned Chinese students from studying Physics. To stay in the US, Ve Dong had to switch to studying Computer Science at New York University.

The salary Ve Dong received more than 20 years ago was about 130,000-134,000 USD/year (3.1-3.2 billion VND).

This is also the reason why he fell into the current dire situation. He accepted a life of wandering and begging for the past 16 years.

At the end of the video shared on Chinese social media, the blogger advised Wei Dong to choose one of two options: Apply for US government assistance to have a place to live or find a manual job to return to normal life. He immediately replied that he would return to Wall Street to find a job after resting.
