According to GSMArena , in June, YouTube announced that it was conducting a small global test that would ask a small group of people who use ad blockers to turn them off if they wanted to view content on the platform. Now, it's no longer a test as the official rollout is underway.
Message content displayed when users use ad blockers with YouTube
When encountering an ad blocker, YouTube will provide a message similar to the screenshot in the article that says video playback will be blocked unless YouTube is whitelisted or the ad blocker is disabled. Users also have the option to try the Premium plan.
YouTube's communications director Christopher Lawton said using ad blockers would violate the platform's terms of service. According to Lawton, ads support a diverse ecosystem of creators around the world and allow billions of people to access their favorite content on YouTube.
