Every July, Lao Cai youth organize many activities to express gratitude to the generation of fathers and brothers who devoted their youth and sacrificed their blood and bones to fight for national liberation and protect the Fatherland.
With the motto "Using expertise as volunteering, using expertise to serve the community" and the spirit of "three responsibilities", in recent times, the Youth Union of the Provincial Agencies - Enterprises and its affiliated grassroots organizations have organized many practical activities, taking care of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war invalids, sick soldiers, and families with meritorious services to the revolution to arouse and educate the tradition and morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" for union members and young people.

Mr. Tran Van Quan, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Agencies - Enterprises Bloc, said: The Youth Unions have organized many meaningful activities, with the nature of propaganda, political education, noble ideology, spreading widely among union members and young people, such as cleaning, sanitizing, and taking care of martyrs' cemeteries, steles, and memorials of heroic martyrs in the province. At the same time, the Youth Union of the Bloc actively mobilized resources to organize medical examination and treatment activities, and give free medicine to policy families and meritorious people in the area; organized delegations to visit and give gifts to war invalids, sick soldiers, and former youth volunteers; gave scholarships and gifts to children and grandchildren of martyrs' families in difficult circumstances... with more than 300 gifts, with a total cost of more than 100 million VND.
There are many ways to pay tribute to the previous generation. One of the creative ways that Lao Cai Youth Union has implemented since January 2024 is to collaborate with Hong Chi Mobile and Minh Minh Studio to recreate portraits of martyrs. From old black and white photos, portraits of 20 martyrs have been depicted using technology.

Holding in her hand the portrait of martyr Ho Sy Sau, Mrs. Tran Thi Hao in residential group No. 1, Bac Lenh ward, tears welled up in her eyes when she once again “met” her husband, right in front of her after more than half a century apart. Caressing the photo, looking at the familiar face of the past for a long time, Mrs. Hao choked up: It is so touching, so meaningful. Thank you to the city's youth for their humanitarian activities so that I could meet Mr. Sau again.
Ms. Truong Thi Van Anh, Secretary of Lao Cai City Youth Union, said: All portraits were restored free of charge and given to the families of the martyrs in the spirit of "Full family reunion - full gratitude of youth". A small but meaningful task, for the city's young generation to send their feelings, respect, and gratitude for the heroic sacrifice of their fathers and brothers for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

In recent years, the provincial Youth Union chapters have promoted the establishment and significance of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27) and the tradition of "Repaying gratitude" and "Remembering the source of water" of the nation to union members and young people. In addition to organizing branch and thematic activities in July, the provincial Youth Union chapters have also actively promoted visual propaganda through media channels, social networks, Facebook, the Provincial Youth Union website, etc. Mr. Hoang Manh Linh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, said: The forms of expression are very diverse through news, articles, photos, propaganda videos, and infographics; union members and young people simultaneously changed their cover photos and profile pictures on their personal pages to respond.

Youth Union chapters at all levels proactively coordinate with the Veterans Association and the Youth Volunteer Association to organize thematic activities, exchanges, meetings, seminars, dialogues, and traditional talks with historical witnesses. In addition, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee directs youth union chapters at all levels to organize trips back to the source for cadres, union members, and young people; trips to museums, historical sites, traditional relics, and red addresses. Along with that, social security activities are widely deployed by youth union chapters at all levels with a series of youth projects and tasks. Typically, the whole province simultaneously organized the 3rd "Green Sunday" program in 2024 on July 21, including a provincial-level point at the Nam Cuong Ward Martyrs' Cemetery (Lao Cai City); Youth Union chapters at all levels organized the renovation and cleaning of 17 martyr cemeteries and 26 memorials and steles of heroic martyrs in the whole province, attracting more than 7,000 union members and young people to participate. In addition, Youth Union chapters at all levels organized more than 300 activities to visit and give gifts to meritorious people and policy families. Many grassroots youth organizations also organized to help policy families in difficult circumstances harvest agricultural products; support the livelihoods of relatives of meritorious people; support the construction of charity houses...

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Hoang Manh Linh affirmed: Through the series of activities, the young generation has more knowledge, useful information, and better understands the great contributions of their fathers and brothers for the cause of revolutionary struggle and national defense, thereby arousing pride and patriotism to continue to do more useful work to contribute to the community and society.
Years will pass, but the contributions and sacrifices of war invalids and martyrs will forever be engraved in the golden pages of history. Together with the youth of the whole country, looking towards War Invalids and Martyrs Day with gratitude and deep appreciation, Lao Cai youth are deeply aware of their responsibilities, constantly studying, training, cultivating morality, worthy of the contributions and sacrifices of previous generations.
