On the afternoon of March 28, in Da Nang City, General Secretary To Lam chaired a meeting between Party and State leaders with veteran revolutionary cadres, meritorious people, and typical policy families in the Central region on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

At the meeting, delegates expressed their deep gratitude to the Party, State and General Secretary To Lam for always caring for policy beneficiaries, veterans, heroic Vietnamese mothers, and people with revolutionary contributions.

Delegates said that in recent times, under the leadership of the Party, headed by General Secretary To Lam, our country has achieved many great achievements in many fields. The Party's correct and timely decisions in building a clean, streamlined, effective and efficient government apparatus; in preventing corruption, negativity, waste... have received widespread consensus and support from the people.

According to some delegates, this is a period of transformation for the country, changing the status quo and rearranging the apparatus from the central to local levels.

Teacher Le Cong Co, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Duy Tan University, commented that this is "not a simple transformation". He believes that to carry out this extremely important new task, there must be a team of cadres with sufficient qualities, capacity and all for the people and the country to carry it out.

The General Secretary said that after 50 years of liberating the South, unifying the country and nearly 40 years of renovation, under the wise and talented leadership of the Party, with the active and effective participation of the entire political system and the entire people, including the important contributions of the delegates attending today's meeting, the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland and developing the country has achieved many great achievements.

Under the leadership of the Party, from a poor country devastated by war, and continuously besieged and isolated for decades, Vietnam has now become a middle-income developing country, deeply integrated into the world economy, world politics, the global economy and human civilization.

The new organizational model must be better and more effective than the old model with methodical steps and roadmaps, ensuring adherence to the Party's principles, statutes, regulations, and directions under the direction of the Central Committee.

Central agencies, departments, the Government, the National Assembly and socio-political organizations have taken the lead, set an example, and promptly implemented the review and completion of functions and tasks, and arranged focal points in accordance with the spirit of "streamlining - compactness - strength - efficiency - effectiveness - efficiency".

The Government has promptly issued policies to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers; contributing to relieving concerns and facilitating the arrangement process.

Localities have actively and proactively implemented the summary, research and proposal of plans to streamline, merge and consolidate agencies according to the direction of the Central Government.

The Politburo is developing content to submit to the Party Central Committee a project to merge a number of provincial-level administrative units, not organize at the district level, and continue to merge commune-level administrative units.

According to the initial plan, the country will have about 34 provinces and cities based on the rearrangement of the current 63 provinces and cities; no administrative activities will be organized at the district level and about 5,000 administrative units at the commune and ward level will be organized.

This organizational structure aims to bring the government and officials closer to the people, closer to the people, and better serve the people. The government must proactively approach the people.

Providing additional information at the meeting, the General Secretary affirmed that the Party will continue to carry out the work of preventing corruption, waste, and negativity with determination and resoluteness, without forbidden areas or exceptions.
