Dong Anh Electrical Equipment Corporation (EEMC) has just organized the launch and installation of the project sign "Design and manufacture of 500kV transformer - 3x300MVA" to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the traditional day of Vietnam Electricity industry.

Dong Anh Electrical Equipment Corporation (EEMC) has just organized the launch and installation of the project sign "Design and manufacture of 500kV transformer - 3x300MVA" to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the traditional day of Vietnam Electricity industry.

Based on the development of Vietnam's 500 kV power transmission grid in recent years, transformers with capacity of 3x150 MVA and 3x200 MVA have been gradually replaced by transformers with capacity of 3x300 MVA. EEMC realized that it is necessary to soon conduct research and manufacture of 500 kV transformers with capacity of 3x300 MVA to meet market demand.

With the goal of mastering the design and manufacturing technology of this large-capacity transformer range, EEMC has proposed and been approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology to implement the national pilot production project "Completing the design and manufacturing technology of 500 kV - 3x300 MVA transformer sets".

After implementing many preparatory work items for manufacturing, from building a 500 kV laboratory, upgrading the factory, investing in technological equipment; from September 2024, the MBA production process was carried out urgently but cautiously under the close supervision of design and technology engineers to ensure the highest quality for this important product.

After completion of manufacturing, the 500 kV - 3x300 MVA transformer was tested and passed all factory test items according to IEC standards.

This is the result of the creative working spirit and outstanding efforts of the collective of engineers and workers of Dong Anh Electrical Equipment Corporation when for the first time a domestic enterprise successfully designed and manufactured a 500 kV transformer with the largest capacity on Vietnam's transmission grid.

Mr. Dang Hoang An, Chairman of Vietnam Electricity Group, EEMC's largest customer, said that EEMC is currently the leading unit in developing Vietnam's electrical engineering industry. EEMC's growth and development are marked by its ability to design and manufacture important transformers and electrical equipment in Vietnam's power grid, of which 80% of 220 kV transformers and 50% of 110 kV transformers on Vietnam's power grid are EEMC products.

The total number of transformers from 110 kV to 500 kV manufactured by EEMC operating safely on the national grid is over 1,100, helping the electricity industry to be proactive in investment and construction, ensuring electricity supply for socio-economic development.

Chairman of Vietnam Electricity Group Dang Hoang An said that from 2016 to now, EEMC's total revenue has reached and exceeded 2,000 billion VND, dividends have always been high at 10 to 20%, workers have stable jobs, and are enthusiastic about production.

The good news is that not only stopping at supplying equipment and developing the domestic market, in 2024 EEMC also got the first contract to export 70 MVA 132 kV Transformers to the Australian market.

The successful design and manufacture of the 500 kV - 3x300 MVA transformer has helped EEMC train a team of design engineers, technology engineers, managers and skilled technical workers to master the 500kV transformer manufacturing technology equipment line. This success is also the premise for EEMC to continue to strive to research and develop new products such as: current transformers, voltage transformers, 500 kV electric resistors, clean gas insulated GIS stations, disconnecting switches... contributing to the localization of main electrical equipment on the Vietnamese power grid.

In recent years, EEMC has successfully produced high voltage transformers (110 kV, 220 kV and 500 kV) which has helped the Vietnam Electricity Industry proactively invest, prevent overload, reduce imports, save foreign currency for the country and improve competitiveness with similar imported products from abroad. This also affirms the correct policy of the Party and Government in developing key domestic mechanical products, gradually increasing the localization rate, contributing to ensuring energy security for the country's socio-economic development.
