(NLDO)- The owner of the TikTok account named @Duc.Hai Duong posted a video clip that is not of Tranh Temple but of an image of an illegally built private project.
On February 11, the People's Committee of Ninh Giang district (Hai Duong province) issued a document requesting the Provincial Police and the Department of Information and Communications to strictly handle the TikTok account named @Duc.Hai Duong for posting inaccurate information about the national relic of Tranh temple; to avoid causing misunderstandings about information about historical and cultural relics in the district.
According to information from the Ninh Giang District People's Committee, on December 13, 2024, the owner of the TikTok account named @Duc.Hai Duong posted a video with the content "Hey Ninh Giang people! Duc is here! I bow to the fifth mandarin of Tuan Tranh."
However, this video clip is not Tranh Temple but an image of a construction project illegally built by a private individual, violating the protection corridor of the Luoc River dike, having no value as a relic, not included by the People's Committee of Hai Duong province in the list of protected relics in the province, and not ranked as a national relic.
The leader of Ninh Giang District People's Committee affirmed that currently, in the area, there is only one relic named Tranh Temple - worshiping Quan Lon Tuan Tranh in Tranh Xuyen village, Dong Tam commune (now Tranh Xuyen residential area, Ninh Giang town).
Tranh Temple (also known as Quan Lon Tuan Tranh Temple) is an ancient temple located near Tranh ferry. The temple worships the water god of Tranh River called Quan Lon Tuan Tranh. This is a folk belief of people working on the river, then spread to traders, hoping that everything will go smoothly, and business will be lucky.
According to legend, during the Tran Dynasty, at the confluence of the Tranh River and the Luoc River, people built a temple to worship the water god who ruled this section of the river. The temple was originally a small temple, also known as Tranh Giang Dai Vuong Co Mieu, located close to the riverbank, so it was often affected by tides and whirlpools. Because the riverbank was often eroded, in 1935, people built a new temple in Tranh Xuyen village.
In 1946, during the resistance war against French colonialism, the temple was destroyed, leaving only three forbidden chambers. In 1954, Tranh Temple was restored to meet the religious needs of the people.
In 2009, Tranh Temple was ranked as a national architectural and artistic relic. The traditional festival of Tranh Temple was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2022.
In March 2024, the Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee decided to recognize Tranh Temple as a national architectural and artistic relic as a tourist destination.
Every year, Tranh Temple has a Spring festival and an Autumn incense offering ceremony. The art of singing Chau Van and practicing the worship of the Mother Goddess of the Three Realms are among the outstanding cultural features at the Tranh Temple festival.
