Optimize system operation, saving over 19.8 million kWh of electricity

Ninh Kieu Power Company officials and workers encouraged Sense City Can Tho Shopping Center to participate in the electricity saving program launched by the city.

According to Can Tho City Electricity Company, to ensure the power supply for more than 420,000 customers in the city, the district and county electricity companies have strengthened technical management, ensuring optimal operation of the power system; at the same time, implementing plans to supply power to critical loads in cases of extreme weather; arranging forces ready to receive and handle power outage notifications from customers; proactively providing vehicles, materials, and backup equipment to fix incidents... to ensure stable and reliable power supply to serve the production, business, and daily needs of the city's residents during the peak months of the hot season.

Along with the work of strengthening the technical management and operation of the power system in the hot season, Can Tho City Power Company coordinated with the city's associations and organizations to deploy a variety of electricity saving propaganda activities. Notably, it coordinated with the Can Tho City Youth Union to mobilize the youth union to participate in the "Energy Saving Competition, responding to Earth Hour 2025"; coordinated with many secondary and high schools in the city to organize electricity saving propaganda for students through flag-raising activities; planted trees, combined with installing solar lights on rural roads in many advanced new rural communes; presented 2,000 environmentally friendly bags to people and traders at traditional markets in the city... With many practical and meaningful activities implemented in accordance with actual conditions, the electricity saving propaganda work of the electricity sector and relevant sectors of the city has spread into the community.

In order for saving electricity to become a habit and enter the daily life of people, Can Tho City Electricity Company has been synchronously implementing propaganda work to help households, businesses, offices and schools grasp good ways to save electricity, especially to limit the increase in household electricity bills during the peak months of the hot season. Accordingly, the electricity industry has increased propaganda work on saving electricity through the channels of Zalo, Facebook, Website, EVNSPC Customer Service app... of the electricity industry; recommending customers not to use large capacity devices at the same time, especially during peak hours of the day; paying attention to cleaning electrical equipment periodically; setting the air conditioner temperature from 26 degrees Celsius or higher, combined with turning on the fan to increase the cooling efficiency of the living space; setting the refrigerator temperature suitable for the needs of preserving food and drinks; Taking advantage of wind and natural light during the day... Thereby, many households have effectively implemented ways to save electricity.

Nguyen Tran Khanh Quynh, a student at Huynh Thuc Khang Secondary School, Ninh Kieu District, shared: Through the activities to promote safe and economical electricity use organized by the school and the electricity sector, I learned how to use electricity better, turn off air conditioners, lights, electric fans, televisions and electrical appliances when not in use; pay attention to turning on the air conditioner at a temperature of 26-28 degrees Celsius... In addition, I often remind my friends and relatives in the house to pay attention to turning off the devices immediately when not in use to avoid wasting electricity, helping to save electricity as well as reduce living expenses for the family. Mr. Luu Phuc Huynh, Thot Not District, said: Thanks to participating in competitions to learn about knowledge about economical energy use launched by the electricity sector, I have learned many good ways to use electricity safely, economically and effectively. Typically, pay attention to turning off electrical appliances when not in use; set the air conditioner temperature to suit the cooling needs and only use when necessary; Limit electricity usage during peak hours, make the most of natural light and wind during the day... Accordingly, I always maintain this good habit and actively encourage family members to save electricity.

Thanks to the implementation of various forms of electricity saving propaganda in direct and online forms, the electricity industry's electricity saving propaganda work has achieved remarkable results in the first 3 months of 2025. The whole city saved over 19.8 million kWh of electricity, reaching over 117% of the plan, equivalent to saving 2.4% of commercial electricity output, contributing to ensuring safe, stable and reliable electricity supply for the city during the peak months of the hot season.
