At 8:00 p.m. on April 17, the world gold price was trading at $3,322/ounce, down about $25/ounce (about VND800,000/tael) from the peak of the day. The gold price "turned around" and cooled down after continuously breaking historical peaks, each peak higher than the previous one.

The world gold price exceeded all forecasts, pushing up the domestic gold price. However, when the world price cooled down, the domestic gold price continued to maintain at the peak.

Tonight, businesses such as SJC and PNJ continued to maintain the price of SJC gold bars at a record peak, around 115.5 million VND/tael for buying, 118 million VND/tael for selling, a total increase of 2.5 million VND/tael compared to yesterday.

Some other companies such as Mi Hong pushed the selling price of SJC gold bars up to 121 million VND/tael, and the buying price to 117 million VND/tael. Notably, this company widened the buying and selling price range to a record 5 million VND/tael.

The price of 99.99 gold rings and jewelry gold also remained high despite the cooling world price, around 114 million VND/tael for buying and 117 million VND/tael for selling, an increase of 11 million VND/tael in just the past 2 days.

According to a reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, the shocking increase in domestic gold prices and the lack of a peak has stimulated people's demand for gold. In Ho Chi Minh City, many people continue to line up to buy gold at SJC Company (District 3). SJC employees said that due to high demand while sales are low, each customer can only buy half a tael of 99.99 plain gold rings or 1 tael of SJC gold bars (because there are no single gold bars of 1, 2, 5 taels).

"There must be customers selling gold, then the company will have a source of gold to sell to those who need to buy due to the scarce supply. The number of customers lining up is even larger than yesterday," an SJC employee told reporters late today.

Each person can only buy 0.5 grams of gold. Some families go together to buy 1 tael of gold ring, when the price of gold ring reached 117 million VND/tael today.
