Line up from 4am waiting to buy application form for grade 1

Although Saigon University Practice Primary School did not distribute application forms for first grade admission until 2 p.m. on June 17, many parents were already present at the school gate at 4 a.m. to register to buy application forms.

Ms. Trang, who lives in Phu Nhuan district, said that to make sure she bought the application form for grade 1, she was at the school gate at 5 a.m. "I thought I was the earliest, but it turned out that there were parents who arrived even earlier, at 4 a.m." - Ms. Trang said.

In the school's parent group, many parents said that last school year, they thought it would not be stressful so they came to school at 7am, but by the time they got there, the opportunity was gone. "With that mentality, many parents lined up very early," said Mr. Thang, a parent.

According to many parents, by around 9am, more than 200 parents had registered to buy application forms, many parents were worried because they had run out of opportunities.

Saigon University Practice Primary School is affiliated with Saigon University. This is a school that implements an advanced, internationally integrated school model. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school will enroll 150 students in grade 1, studying 2 sessions/day, and enrolling in integrated classes.

The admission target is children who are 6 years old (born in 2018). The school considers admission in the following order of priority: Children whose father or mother is a civil servant or employee currently working at Saigon University (based on the labor contract or application confirmed by the Personnel Department).

Children are children of individuals or organizations that have cooperated and contributed to the development of the school. Children whose father or mother is a public official or civil servant. Preschool children are the remaining group.

Even though they arrived early in the morning, many parents stayed at school waiting for the time to distribute the application forms.

Admission form: Parents directly receive application documents at Saigon University Practice Primary School. Admission is based on student records. Issuance of application documents: From 2:00 p.m. on June 17 until all application documents are released. Submission of application documents: from June 19 to June 20. Announcement of admission results on July 1. Submission of admission documents from July 2 to 4. Announcement of class placement list (expected) on August 8.
