Mr. Vo Duc Dung said he was taking his family on a weekend vacation in Phan Thiet. Although the family tried to leave early, they still could not avoid the traffic jam on the weekend.
"Over the weekend, I took my wife and children on a beach vacation. Even though I left early, I didn't expect that there would be a long traffic jam just entering the highway," said Mr. Dung, disappointed.
Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has submitted a document to the City People's Council on the investment policy for the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway (from An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2), from 4 lanes to 8 lanes.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the section from An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2 is part of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, which serves as the main connecting route between the North - South Expressway and Ho Chi Minh City. However, in recent times, both the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway and the access road have always been overloaded with vehicles and frequently congested.
The State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises has proposed that the Government assign VEC to invest in expanding the 22km Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway section with a scale of 8-10 lanes.
The total estimated investment is about 14,955 billion VND. If the procedures are favorable, the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh section expansion project will complete investment preparation before February 2025 so that it can be implemented from March 2025 to December 2027.
