Developing the night economy in Bao Loc center

At a meeting with press agencies in Lam Dong province on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, leaders of Bao Loc city shared many directions for tourism development in this locality.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Chairman of Bao Loc City People's Committee, in May 2024, the city welcomed 13,374 overnight guests (348 international guests). In the first 5 months of 2024, the locality welcomed 45,338 guests (1,225 international guests), an increase of more than 83% over the previous year.

Although the number of visitors in the first 5 months of 2024 increased sharply compared to the same period, this is still not commensurate with the strengths and potential for tourism development of Bao Loc. Especially when compared to Da Lat (more than 5 million visitors in 6 months), Bao Loc welcomed 100 times fewer visitors.

Mr. Phuong said that a part of tourists now choose the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway and then follow National Highway 28 to get to Da Lat faster instead of the previous route of National Highway 20 - Bao Loc Pass, which is also one of the difficulties for Bao Loc. Currently, the city is upgrading its infrastructure, such as upgrading the lighting system through the city center.

"How to make it as beautiful as Di Linh, Duc Trong, Da Lat, but the current central lighting system of Bao Loc has nothing. We have been approved and implemented" - Mr. Phuong said.

The next step is that Bao Loc will carry out dredging of Dong Nai lakes and renovate 28/3 Street to prepare for the upcoming night-time economic activities around this area. This is also one of the plans to improve the tourism environment and attract tourists to Bao Loc.

According to Mr. Phuong, in addition to local products such as mangosteen, B'lao tea, and Bao Loc silk, this year we will build the Bao Loc orchid brand, organize orchid competitions, and many large programs and projects bearing the mark of Bao Loc.

Continuing on the issue of tourism development, Mr. Ton Thien Dong, Secretary of Bao Loc City Party Committee, affirmed that in recent times, the city has focused on communication work to promote its image through press agencies and social networks. For a long time, when talking about Bao Loc, we only talked about "the scent of tea and the color of silk", but it has not been developed properly.

Mr. Dong shared that everyone knows that Bao Loc is the capital of silkworms, with the largest output in the country, accounting for about 85% of the Vietnamese silk market share, but there is no leading silk enterprise. Recently, the city was very happy when a corporation bought the market share of the Vietnam Silkworm Corporation, this is the hope to rebuild Bao Loc's silk industry to be more professional and stronger.

The Secretary of the Bao Loc City Party Committee informed that the city has planted thousands of yellow phoenix flowers with the goal of building Bao Loc into a "yellow phoenix flower city". "There are only 5-6 yellow phoenix flowers in Bat Nha Monastery, but when the flowers bloom, they attract many visitors. The city is trying to do this" - Mr. Dong said.

Bao Loc also allocated funds and called for socialized resources to pilot models of planting royal poinciana trees on central city streets, parks, schools, offices, and businesses. To date, the entire city of Bao Loc has planted about 2,000 royal poinciana trees.

Sharing about the night economy, Mr. Dong said frankly: "I have been here for more than a year and a half, and I don't know where to go at night. Now when tourists come, they have to have places to have fun, but Bao Loc has no place to go at night."

Meanwhile, Bao Loc has two beautiful lakes in the center, Dong Nai Thuong and Dong Nai Ha. The city will renovate these two lakes, renovate the white bridge between the two lakes, and organize a night street around them. The locality is developing a project, which will soon be submitted to the City People's Council for approval to develop a methodical night street, creating a highlight.

Naming Trinh Cong Son Street in Bao Loc

Bao Loc City is reviewing and will find a beautiful street to name Trinh Cong Son Street. "In the past, the late musician Trinh Cong Son taught in B'lao - the old Bao Loc, his first composition was the song "Uot Mi" which was also composed in B'lao. Therefore, we named the street Trinh Cong Son and built it into a cultural and artistic center of the city" - Bao Loc City Party Secretary Ton Thien Dong shared.
