Shooter Trinh Thu Vinh maintained a stable performance throughout her competition but only finished 4th overall and could not win a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Trinh Thu Vinh, the hope of Vietnamese Sports, unfortunately missed out on a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics when she only finished fourth in the final of the women's 10m air pistol event.
Shooter Trinh Thu Vinh was very confident entering the finals with the determination to win a medal despite facing many strong opponents.
In the final, Thu Vinh will face strong opponents such as Major Veronika (Hungary), 2023 World Cup champion; Bhaker Manu (India, 2002), 2018 Youth Olympic champion, 7th place Tokyo Olympic 2020; Jiang Ranxin (China, 2000), 3rd place Tokyo Olympic 2020, 2023 world champion, 2023 World Cup champion; two Korean athletes Oh Ye Jin and Kim Ye-ji.
Despite that, Trinh Thu Vinh played calmly to eliminate opponents Major Veronika, Sevval Tarhan (Türkiye), Jiang Ranxin (China) and Li Xue (China) in turn.
Being in the top 5 helped the shooter of the Vietnam Shooting Team gain more confidence. However, despite playing calmly and achieving high scores, Thu Vinh still did not make it into the top 3 and was eliminated with a total score of 198.6 points.
By not making it into the top 3, Trinh Thu Vinh also missed the opportunity to compete for a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In the following event, two Korean shooters Oh Ye Jin and Kim Ye-ji continued to show impressive performance, causing Bhaker Manu to stop with 221.7 points and only won the Bronze medal in the women's 10m air pistol event.
In the Gold medal round, Oh Ye Jin played steadily to win 243.2 points, thereby winning the Gold medal and breaking the Olympic record.
Kim Ye-ji won the Silver medal in the women's 10m air pistol event with a total score of 241.3 points.
With 1 more Gold medal and 1 Silver medal, the Korean Sports Delegation has risen to 3rd place in the overall medal tally of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Korean delegation currently has a total of 2 Gold medals, 2 Silver medals and 1 Bronze medal, ranking behind the Australian and Chinese sports delegations.
Earlier, fencer Oh Sang Uk became the first athlete to win a Gold Medal for South Korea. Oh Sang Uk won the men's individual fencing event at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
Meanwhile, in addition to Trinh Thu Vinh, the Vietnamese sports delegation on today's competition day also has two other athletes competing, Pham Thi Hue and Le Thi Mong Tuyen.
Rower Pham Thi Hue won a ticket to the quarter-finals of the women's heavyweight single sculls rowing event at the 2024 Paris Olympics after finishing second in the first round of the play-off round.
Pham Thi Hue will compete in the quarterfinals of the women's heavyweight single sculls at the 2024 Paris Olympics, scheduled to take place at 2:55 p.m. on July 29 (Vietnam time).
Also on the afternoon of July 28, the second shooter of the Vietnam Shooting Team, Le Thi Mong Tuyen, entered the qualifying round of the women's 10-meter rifle event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
At the end of the competition, Le Thi Mong Tuyen achieved a total score of 621.1 (average 10.352 points per shot), ranked 40/43 competing shooters and had to stop early.
