Why is this place called Phun Phu Yen abyss?

Locals often call this place Phun Abyss because of the special geological structure here. Above are layers of rock, arranged in very solid layers and below the abyss are soft rocks, often eroded over time into deep holes.

Streams of water from upstream pour into the hole, creating layers of white foam, creating a mysterious, hazy space. Phun Abyss is hidden in the Da Den mountain range, nestled between forests and hills, creating an extremely romantic and poetic landscape.

Legend of Phun Abyss Phu Yen

This place was born, exists and develops in association with a mysterious legend, passed down from generation to generation. In ancient times, this place was an area with very dangerous mountains, a sacred forest and poisonous water with many wild animals. Many local people could not come here to exploit and cultivate because there was a snake god that always occupied this area. Not far from here was a fertile valley, hundreds of acres wide, owned by a rich man but abandoned for many years.

At that time, the rich man also had a very beautiful, intelligent, and clever daughter who was sought after by many places, but she was not willing to marry him. After discussing with his wife and children, he decided to offer a reward to anyone who could destroy the giant beast and promised to marry his daughter.

There was a young man who happened to pass by this place and saw the notice so he went into the forest to find a way to help the people destroy it. He left before the sun rose and arrived at the place in the late afternoon. Both sides fought fiercely for many days without rest. In the end, the snake died but took the young man with it, becoming the Banh Lai River and a deep abyss. From then on, the name Vuc Phun was born and the legend has been passed down to this day.
