VN-Index slightly decreased, bright spots in securities and oil and gas groups

The market continued to trade sluggishly as investors showed caution as the VN-Index approached strong resistance zones.

The market continued to struggle at the strong resistance zone, the threshold above 1,248 points for 3 consecutive sessions, VN-Index rotated around this axis. Thus, the cash flow in the market is still relatively weak and cannot help the index break through the strong resistance levels.

Entering the trading session on May 10, the indices quickly regained green when receiving support from some large-cap stocks. However, demand quickly weakened and this caused the indexes' upward momentum to be halted.

The main index VN-Index fluctuated with alternating increases and decreases for more than 1 hour of trading. After that, selling pressure increased while demand continued to be weak as investors showed caution at strong resistance levels, especially when VN-Index also had a V-shaped recovery after the previous sharp decline. The decline of VN-Index was widened when a series of stock groups were submerged in red. The entire remaining trading time of the session, VN-Index fluctuated in red.

At one point, all 30 stocks in the VN30 group were trading in red. However, at the end of the session, supportive demand appeared and helped codes such as SSI, FPT, ACB and TCB inch up above the reference level, so the VN-Index also ended the session with only a slight decrease.

FPT was the stock that had the most positive impact on the VN-Index, contributing 0.22 points. FPT closed the session up 0.54%. Following that, stocks not included in the VN30 such as PDR, CMG or DBC made a big contribution to the VN-Index in today's session.

In the opposite direction, VCB put the most pressure on the VN-Index when it took away 0.68 points from the index. VCB recorded a decrease of 0.68 points. Next, VHM and BID took away 0.64 points and 0.62 points, respectively. In today's session, VHM and BID decreased by 1.47% and 0.88%, respectively.

Besides, the oil and gas group also had positive results when PSH hit the ceiling, CNG increased by 1.9%, PVS increased by 3.3%, PVB increased by 3.2%.

HNX-Index still increased by 1.1 points (0.47%) to 235.68 points. The entire floor had 77 stocks increasing, 89 stocks decreasing and 64 stocks remaining unchanged. HNX-Index increased in today's session thanks to the push of oil and gas stocks such as PVS, BVS, SHS... Meanwhile, on UPCoM floor, UPCoM-Index decreased by 0.19 points (-0.21%) to 91.72 points.
