Vietnamese martial arts become national intangible cultural heritage

The journey of 85 years of continuous development Vovinam is also known by another name, Viet Vo Dao, is a traditional martial art of our country. This martial art appeared in 1938 by the late martial artist Nguyen Loc, created and developed with 2 parts: Viet Vo Thuat and Viet Vo Dao.

After many years of continuous learning, development and improvement, Vovinam has expanded and is present in many countries and territories around the world. In particular, in 2010, the establishment of the Vovinam Master Council marked an important milestone, opening a new path for this sect.

At present, Vovinam is present in more than 70 countries and has more than 2.5 million students studying. Tournaments from amateur to professional, from national to continental level and world championships are also held annually, attracting many fans to pay attention and follow.

Become a national intangible cultural heritage

This November, on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the school's founding, the 111th birthday of the late martial artist - founder of the Vovinam school Nguyen Loc, as well as on the eve of the 7th Vovinam World Championship, Viet Vo Dao was officially recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.

This is not only a recognition after a long journey of development and promotion efforts of Vovinam but also an important milestone, marking the transformation of this martial art in Vietnam as well as in the international arena.

Previously, at the 32nd SEA Games held in Cambodia, Vovinam also became an official sport. This also partly shows the influence and strong integration of Vovinam with the world "sports" house.

Continuously spreading the spirit of Vietnamese Martial Arts at the 7th World Vovinam Championship in 2023

The 7th World Vovinam Championship in 2023 is very meaningful as it is held at a time that is meaningful to the sect. This is also considered a journey back to the roots of Vovinam martial artists around the world.

Accompanying the Organizing Committee of this year's World Vovinam Championship, in addition to the major sponsors, we cannot fail to mention the co-sponsorship of the pasteurized fresh milk brand DELIFRESH, a very active supporter of this seventh World Vovinam Championship with the desire to bring great energy to the athletes and participants of the tournament.

The tournament took place from November 24 to November 30. With 44 events, this world championship gathered more than 650 top athletes, coaches and referees from 35 countries. This is also the largest number in the history of the tournament so far.

As of now, the final competitions are still taking place. And the host country's sports delegation is still leading the medal table with 18 gold medals and 8 silver medals (as of November 29).

In particular, this tournament marked the remarkable progress of the country's young athletes when for the first time Vietnam became the champion in the men's 92 kg combat category. Along with that was a shower of gold medals in the performance categories as well as other combat categories.

The tournament ends on the afternoon of November 30, followed by the closing ceremony. Athletes, coaches and referees are scheduled to board a plane to return home on the morning of December 1.
