This year's World Vovinam Championship is held with great significance, taking place on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the school's founding. At the same time, Vovinam has also been officially recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, aiming to build and develop it into a World Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The careful preparation of the host country and the high quality of the participating teams brought about dramatic, top-notch matches.

On the first day, host Vietnam "opened" with 5 gold medals from Le Nguyen Hoai Nam (57kg men), Bui Thi Thao Ngan (66kg women), Nguyen Hoa An/Vu Duy Bao/Phan Tan Thanh/Vo Trong Nhan (men's kick), Nguyen Tu Cuong (five-door boxing), Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram (dragon-tiger boxing).

In the following days of competition, the focus will be on the combat events. Athlete Nguyen Huu Toan of the Nam Dinh Vovinam team will compete in the men's 92kg category.

With a confident attitude, determination and reasonable fighting style, the martial artist from Thanh Nam excellently overcame strong opponents from Russia, Romania, Libya, Iran, Algeria... to bring home a very "special" world Vovinam gold medal.

What is special is that this is the first Vovinam world gold medal in the 92kg weight class that the Vietnamese sports delegation has achieved and is also the best result of Nam Dinh sports in the world arena.

This affirms the proper investment interest of Nam Dinh province in general and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in particular in high-performance sports, including Vovinam.

Nguyen Huu Toan's gold medal is a happy signal promising more outstanding achievements of the province's sports in the future.
