Vinacomin promotes cooperation with Japanese partners

(Chinhphu.vn) - Leaders of the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) recently had a working trip to Japan to sign agreements with partners on coal import and cooperation in training and resource exploration.

Vinacomin and Marubeni Group sign coal supply contract in 2025

At the working session with Marubeni Group, Marubeni Group leaders expressed their desire to cooperate in Vinacomin's alumina and aluminum smelting plant expansion projects in the near future.

Jogmec Group said that in 2025, Jogmec will continue to receive and train Vinacomin trainees in Japan, as well as send Japanese experts to train and transfer techniques and technology to TKV units to help improve modern underground coal mining techniques and technologies, train human resources, improve production capacity and safety management for mines, and contribute to the stable supply of coal to Vietnam and Japan.

By the end of 2024, more than 2,200 Vinacomin trainees had been sent to Japan to study.

Every year, Jogmec Group and Kushiro Coal Company send experts, bring machinery and equipment to Vietnam, directly teach, train and transfer technology to staff and workers at Vinacomin coal mines. To date, Jogmec Group and Kushiro Coal Company have trained over 160,000 experts and staff in Vietnam.

Vinacomin, Sumitomo Corporation and Nippon Steel signed a coal supply contract in 2025.

During this working trip, Vinacomin leaders also worked with Sumitomo Corporation and Nippon Steel in the field of coal trading.

With the Government's approval, Vinacomin will continue to export high-quality coal to Japanese partners; sign coal supply contracts in 2025 with Sumitomo and Nippon Steel.
