On the morning of January 17, at the Presidential Palace, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan received Ms. Kay Hart, President of the International Markets Group (IMG) of Ford Motor Company and senior members of the Company who are visiting Vietnam for work.
The Vice President congratulated Ford Corporation on its achievements over the past 120 years, and congratulated Ford Vietnam Limited Liability Company (Ford Vietnam) for its many important contributions, which were awarded the First Class Labor Medal by the Vietnamese State on this occasion.
Ford Group has invested about 208 million USD in Vietnam, creating jobs for over 5,000 workers. In addition, Ford Vietnam Company has many meaningful community activities, especially supporting traffic safety for Vietnamese people as well as preventing and fighting the Covid-19 pandemic in recent times.
Recently, Vietnam and the United States announced upgrading their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The Vice President said that this is a great opportunity to promote cooperation between the two countries in all fields, including economics, trade and investment.
Vietnamese and American businesses such as Ford are the organizations that realize the commitments of the two countries' leaders. With the efforts of both sides, economic, trade and investment cooperation has grown impressively in recent times.
In terms of trade, the United States is one of Vietnam's leading trade partners and is currently Vietnam's largest export market. In the ASEAN region, Vietnam is the leading trade partner of the United States. In 2023, two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and the United States reached 111 billion USD.
In terms of investment, the United States is an important investment partner, ranking 11th out of 143 countries and territories with high investment rates in Vietnam with about 3,000 valid projects, total investment capital of about 12 billion USD, including Ford Group.
The Vice President said that the potential and aspirations of the two countries are huge, especially after upgrading relations, these areas will develop more strongly in the coming time. With the advantage of a large population and an important role in the ASEAN region, Vietnam is promoting administrative procedure and institutional reforms, creating the most favorable environment for foreign businesses to invest, including US businesses.
In the current period, Vietnam is calling for investment partners under new-generation free trade agreements, implementing policies on green transformation, digital transformation, and sustainable development. Emphasizing that in the coming time, Ford Group will continue to research to expand investment opportunities in Vietnam, the Vice President hopes that the Group will have many innovations in technology, corporate governance, human resource training, etc.
Informing about the commitment at COP 26 to reduce net emissions to "zero" by 2050, the Vice President shared that Vietnam welcomes manufacturing technologies in Vietnam that will transform and reduce environmental emissions; at the same time, emphasizing that Ford Group's technology and management will be implemented in line with Vietnam's rapid digital transformation trend. Ford Vietnam continues to carry out community activities to support customers and people, especially those in remote, isolated and disadvantaged areas.
The Vice President hopes that in the coming time, Ford Group will continue to develop and be a bridge in the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the United States.
Thanking Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan for taking the time to meet, Ms. Kay Hart affirmed that the Ford Hai Duong factory is one of Ford's three important assembly plants in the region. At the same time, Vietnam is one of Ford Motor Group's key markets globally.
Thanking the attention, support and companionship of the authorities at all levels in the past time, Ms. Kay Hart said that Ford Vietnam Company will increase exchanges and hopes to continue receiving support from the Hai Duong provincial government and the Vietnamese Government.
Ford Group continues to explore opportunities to expand and develop new products and technologies in Vietnam. With the support of authorities and the Government, Ms. Kay Hart expressed her confidence that the Ford team will have appropriate strategies and confidently move towards new successes in the future.
Emphasizing that community activities are an important and prioritized strategy of Ford Group, Ms. Kay Hart said that the Group not only invests in products but also in people and community activities.
