IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong stated that the results of the conference far exceeded expectations, breaking many records such as the largest number of delegates ever. IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong stated that Vietnam has truly succeeded in continuing the success of IPU-132 and has made innovations suitable for the times.
President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Duarte Pacheco shared that when the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly proposed that Vietnam host the Global Meeting of Young Parliamentarians, the IPU agreed without hesitation. He said: "We did not hesitate because we had a great experience 8 years ago, when Vietnam hosted IPU-132 in Hanoi. This conference once again confirmed that Vietnam did its job well, contributing effectively to the common success". Up to now, after 3 working days within the framework of this Global Meeting of Young Parliamentarians, Vietnam continues to affirm its organizational capacity.
Regarding the results achieved at the conference, the IPU President said that the commitments and agreements made at the conference were only initial results. The more difficult thing ahead is the organization and implementation to put the commitments and contents of the conference into practice. The question is what the parliamentarians will do when they return home to implement the consensus reached at the conference.
