Báo Lao Động•30/05/2024
In the first 5 months of 2024, international visitors reached nearly 7.6 million, up 64.9% over the same period last year and up 3.9% over the same period in 2019.
According to the Socio-Economic Situation Report for May and the First Five Months of 2024 of the General Statistics Office, in May 2024, international arrivals to our country reached nearly 1.4 million, an increase of 51% over the same period in 2023. The number of international arrivals to Vietnam in May decreased by about 10% compared to April 2024 (1.55 million arrivals). However, this decrease is not at all worrying because the peak season for international arrivals usually lasts from September of the previous year to March and April of the following year. China was the largest market sending visitors in May 2024, reaching 357,000 arrivals, higher than the Korean market (351,000 arrivals). The remaining markets in the top 10 leading markets sending visitors are Taiwan (China), the US, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, Cambodia, and India.

The markets with the best growth in Asia are China (up 302.3%), South Korea (up 48.1%), Japan (up 41.7%), Taiwan (China) (up 110.1%), according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism. The General Statistics Office assessed that the number of international visitors to Vietnam increased quite high compared to the same period last year thanks to favorable visa policies and tourism promotion programs in 2024 promoted by localities across the country.
