Vietnam holds an important position in implementing Japan's foreign policy towards the region.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu welcomed Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Komura Masahiro to visit Vietnam and attend the 9th Vietnam-Japan Festival in Ho Chi Minh City on March 9-10; highly appreciated the fact that the two countries' Foreign Ministries regularly meet and exchange to coordinate in promoting high-level agreements, concretizing the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, which was upgraded in November 2023 in all fields.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu suggested that the two sides maintain exchanges of high-level delegations and all levels between the two countries in 2024; Japan continues to cooperate and support Vietnam in promoting industrialization and modernization in the new context.

The Deputy Minister expressed his satisfaction with the progress in economic cooperation between the two countries and in improving Vietnam's investment environment as well as cooperation in new areas such as green transformation, digital transformation, and implementing cooperation projects within the framework of Japan's Asian Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Initiative.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu suggested that the two sides promote labor cooperation, train skilled and high-quality human resources to meet the needs of the two countries; expand the receiving fields and pay attention to creating favorable and equal conditions for Vietnamese workers in Japan.

Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Komura Masahiro expressed his gratitude for the Vietnamese leaders' visit and sympathy to the Japanese leaders and people for the damage caused by the recent earthquake in the Noto Peninsula; affirming that Vietnam has an important position in implementing Japan's foreign policy towards the region.

Emphasizing the importance of the two countries upgrading their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and successfully organizing many large-scale events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2023, Deputy Minister Komura affirmed that the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to successfully prepare for visits and meetings between the two countries' senior leaders in the coming time.

At the talks, the two sides discussed the world and regional situation; agreed to strengthen coordination, share stances, and cooperate on international issues of mutual concern, actively contribute to peace and prosperity in the region; and affirmed to continue supporting each other at multilateral forums and international organizations.
