Qin Shi Huang, also known as Qin Shi Zu Wu Huangdi (259 BC – 210 BC). He was the 31st king of the Qin state and also the first emperor to unify China. Qin Shi Huang is one of the "greatest emperors" in Chinese feudal history.

Qin Shi Huang ascended the throne at the age of 13 as King of Qin, but his father was the regent. After that, Qin Shi Huang destroyed the six vassal states and ended the Warring States period. He created the title "emperor" for himself and called himself Shi Huangdi (First Emperor) to mark this milestone.

In total, Qin Shi Huang reigned for 37 years, of which he was king for 25 years and emperor for 12 years. In 210 BC, Qin Shi Huang died of illness at the age of 49. Regarding Qin Shi Huang's death, historians have found some documents mentioning 3 strange events that happened that are considered to be omens about the emperor before he passed away a year ago. What were those events?

Astronomical phenomenon "Huynh Hoac Thu Tam"

In the "Qin Shi Huang Ben Ji" section of the "Historical Records", it is recorded that one year before Qin Shi Huang died, a strange astronomical phenomenon appeared in the sky. At that time, they called this phenomenon "Huynh Hoac Thu Tam". In fact, this phenomenon is when Mars approaches Earth. Mars is called "huynh hoac" because of its color and its difficult-to-determine orbit. And "thu tam" is the name of the constellation Scorpio.

In ancient Chinese culture, the constellation Scorpio is also known as Shennong or Yandi, this is a very important constellation. Ancient Chinese kings and emperors considered this constellation to symbolize themselves. Therefore, when Mars moves close to the constellation Scorpio, it is considered a great disaster. If it is mild, the emperor will only lose his throne, if it is severe, the emperor will die.

This phenomenon happened a year before Qin Shi Huang died. Therefore, it can be understood that the king at that time, Qin Shi Huang, was about to face a great disaster. After learning about this information, Qin Shi Huang tried to hide it.

Meteorite engraved with words insulting Qin Shi Huang

Also in the 36th year of Qin Shi Huang, many historical records recorded an incident that happened. Specifically, it was a large meteorite that fell on Dong Quan. This place was part of the Qin territory bordering the Qi state, now the city of Puyang, Henan, China.

Strangely, this meteorite has 7 engraved words "Thuy Hoang De tu nhi dia phan", meaning that when Thuy Hoang De dies, the land will be divided. According to the interpretation of the prophets at that time, this was an omen that after the death of Qin Thuy Hoang, war would break out, the land and mountains of the Qin Dynasty would be divided, and even the Qin Dynasty could be destroyed.

When Qin Shi Huang heard about this, he was very angry and immediately sent people to investigate who dared to carve that inscription. However, all investigations came to a dead end and yielded no results. Finally, Qin Shi Huang ordered the killing of all the people in the area where the meteorite fell. He then destroyed the meteorite.

Jade falls and returns

In the same year that the above two phenomena occurred, a strange event also occurred. Qin Shi Huang sent a messenger to deliver a message at night. While this messenger was passing through the "Hua Yin Ping Shu" road from Guandong, he was suddenly stopped by a stranger. The stranger gave the messenger a piece of jade and said: "Kim nien to long tu". This sentence means that the first emperor will die. Here, "to long" refers to the first emperor. After that, this person disappeared in just a moment.

When the messenger returned to the capital, he reported this matter to Qin Shi Huang. Upon hearing the story, Qin Shi Huang immediately understood that the "Ancestral Dragon" that the stranger mentioned was himself. He immediately had someone examine the jade piece and discovered that it was his own jade.

In the 28th year of Qin Shi Huang’s reign, while crossing a river by boat, Qin Shi Huang used this piece of jade as an offering to the Water God. Unexpectedly, many years later, the jade piece returned to Qin Shi Huang’s hands. This made Qin Shi Huang believe that something bad was about to happen to him. Afterwards, he ordered those involved to absolutely not say a word about this matter.

In 210 BC, Qin Shi Huang suddenly died during his fifth tour. The story of his death while outside the palace was kept secret.

It can be seen that one year before Qin Shi Huang passed away, two of these three strange events originated from astronomy. The secrets related to this event and many mysteries surrounding the death of the Qin king are still mysteries that to this day have not been able to be explained by posterity.
