Kach Lon 2 school, belonging to Dak Sao commune's Boarding Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, became desolate in a short time.

Kạch Lớn 2 School, belonging to the Dak Sao Commune Boarding Primary and Secondary School (Tu Mơ Rông District) is one of four schools listed as unused. In 2001, this school was put into operation to serve students from two villages, Kạch Lớn 1 and 2.

At the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, Kạch Lớn 2 school merged with the central school of Đắk Sao commune. In just 4 months, the school had deteriorated and glass doors were broken. Due to the lack of caretakers and security guards, Kạch Lớn 2 school became desolate. Weeds grew all over the campus, concrete fence posts were broken and collapsed. Many of the school's windows were broken by bad people. Inside the classrooms, there was a strong stench from cow and buffalo feces.

Ms. Y Thung (38 years old, living in Kach Lon 2 village, Dak Sao commune) said that because the roads were convenient and the distance was only about 1km, the decision to move the school was agreed upon by the local people. At the new school, the classrooms were cleaner, more spacious and modern. “However, after the transfer of the school, many young people in the village caused trouble, throwing rocks and breaking the windows. The situation of buffaloes and cows defecating in the classrooms caused a foul smell. After only a few months, the school had become deserted and no one dared to enter,” Ms. Y Thung said.

According to Mr. Pham Quoc Viet, Principal of Dak Sao Commune Boarding Primary and Secondary School, after receiving the policy of eliminating the school from the Department of Education and Training of Kon Tum province, the school merged two classes 1 and 2 with about 30 students from Kach Lon 2 school to the commune center. This helps the school easily manage teachers and students. At the same time, students can study in quality classrooms with full teaching equipment to better absorb the lessons.

“Kach Lon 2 School was officially merged at the beginning of this school year. However, because I have not been there to inspect for many months, I do not have information about the current situation. Before that, this school was often hit by rocks thrown by young people in the village, breaking the glass doors. The school had to use corrugated iron sheets to replace the glass,” said Mr. Viet.

According to Mr. Le Van Hoang, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Tu Mo Rong district, Kach Lon 2 school is included in the statistics of unused schools. The department is completing the documents to hand over classrooms and other auxiliary items to the People's Committee of the commune. "Currently, the whole district has about 4 schools included in the statistics of unused schools.
Among them, Long Leo village school, belonging to Tu Mo Rong commune kindergarten, has completed the documents for the commune People's Committee. The main reason is that the number of students is small and the distance between the new schools is not too far, so the department has merged them so that the schools can be easily managed and serve the children's learning better," said Mr. Hoang.
