VCCA introduces the exhibition "User Manual: Life"

The exhibition "User Manual: Life" at VCCA attracts experts and art lovers.

The exhibition displays more than 60 works of various genres: paintings, multi-material installations, video-art by 11 talented young faces in contemporary art such as: Vu Hoang, Bui Quoc Khanh, Truong Van Khanh (Keith Khanh Truong), Pham Nguyen Dang Khoa (Koa Pham), Nguyen Xuan Lam, Le Vu Anh Nhi (Mifa), ZT Nguyen, Hoang Thien Phuc, Nguyen Ngoc Vu (Cau Be Tho), Pham Van Vu (Teo Pham), Jack Greeley-ward.

The exhibition's title: "Life: A User's Manual" was inspired by the famous novel of the same name by French writer Georges Perec published in 1978.

Rather than focusing on grand themes or dramatic stories, the exhibition celebrates the beauty and meaning inherent in everyday life. Here, the act of creating art is intimately linked to the experience of life - a journey of continuous exploration into one's inner world.

Through rich themes and fresh visual language, "User's Guide: Life" raises existential questions that each person faces in the process of growing up, inviting viewers to reflect and find meaning in their own journey.

While "Rabbit Boy" deeply encapsulates the loneliness that comes with surfing social media in modern digital life, Hoang Thien Phuc brings a dialogue with the natural world - reminiscent of Don Quixote's legendary journey in search of transformation.

Mifa vividly depicts the inner spiritual journey, through the use of color and shape, reflecting the understanding of deep, still things, while there still exists an underlying struggle full of conflict and turmoil.

Vu Hoang’s playful, animal-shaped light installations evoke childhood memories of favorite games. Similarly, Jack’s vibrant animations capture the essence of the ramblings of everyday thoughts, each frame reflecting fleeting moments that are filled with meaning.

ZT Nguyen's exploration of the concept of "night architecture" delves into memory, invoking light, sound and activity while Keith Khanh Truong cleverly combines virtual materiality with tangible memories to question gender norms and hierarchies in a traditional society.

The way Koa Pham uses bath effervescent tablets to create colorful paintings shows the joy of experimenting with different materials, making viewers associate unexpected beauty that arises from the playful creative process.

Xuan Lam opens up new interpretations of historical objects and posters, challenging viewers to look back at the past through a modern lens. Meanwhile, Teo Pham's seemingly innocent creations act as a cover for profound humor, evoking thoughts for viewers to freely associate with the layers of meaning hidden deep within.

Through the exhibition "Life: A User's Manual", VCCA continues to promote its mission of accompanying and nurturing young artistic talents, creating opportunities for promising artists from many regions across the country to exhibit and introduce their works as well as receive feedback and evaluation from experts and the public.

The exhibition "User Manual: Life" is open to the public from June 29, 2024 to July 28, 2024 at Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA), B1-R3 Vincom Mega Mall Royal City, 72A Nguyen Trai, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi.
