Early morning of August 21 , SJC's 9999 gold price today increased by 50 thousand VND/tael in buying price but decreased by 50 thousand VND/tael in selling price compared to the end of last week's trading session.

SJC and DOJI gold price list updated early morning August 21
At the end of the trading session on August 19, the price of 9999 gold bars at SJC Ho Chi Minh City was 67 million VND/tael (buy) and 67.7 million VND/tael (sell). SJC Hanoi listed at 67 million VND/tael (buy) and 67.72 million VND/tael (sell).
Doji Hanoi listed at 66.95 million VND/tael (buy) and 67.75 million VND/tael (sell). Doji Ho Chi Minh City bought SJC gold at 67.05 million VND/tael and sold at 67.65 million VND/tael.
The central exchange rate on August 21 announced by the State Bank was 23,897 VND/USD, down 49 VND compared to last weekend. The USD price at commercial banks this morning (August 21) was traded around 23,610 VND/USD (buy) and 23,980 VND/USD (sell).
International gold price today August 21
At 9:10 a.m. today (August 21, Vietnam time), the world spot gold price stood at around 1,885.2 USD/ounce, down 3.8 USD/ounce compared to last weekend. The price of gold futures for December delivery on the Comex New York floor was at 1,914.2 USD/ounce.
On the morning of August 21 , world gold converted to USD bank price was nearly 54.5 million VND/tael (excluding tax and fees), about 13.17 million VND/tael lower than domestic gold price.
On the world market, the spot gold price on Kitco on August 19 (at 2:00 p.m., Vietnam time) was trading at 1,889 USD/ounce.
The global gold market was under pressure due to rising US Treasury yields and the USD index. The 10-year US Treasury yield reached its highest level in the past 15 years. The USD index recorded a 9-week high, closing at 103 points.
Bond yields have risen on the possibility that the US Federal Reserve will maintain its current high interest rates, not to mention that the Fed may continue to raise interest rates in September. That creates a challenging environment for gold, meaning that gold prices are unlikely to rise in the near future.
Phillip Streible, chief market strategist at Blue Line Futures, said gold is under pressure to compete with other investment channels that yield 4-5% such as bonds... Gold is not an ideal asset at the present time.
Gold Price Forecast
Wall Street analysts see significant downside in gold prices in the near term, according to the latest Kitco News weekly gold survey. Investors expect the Fed to keep interest rates in the 5.25%-5.5% range through 2024.
Ricardo Evangelista, senior analyst at ActivTrades, said that in the long term, higher US interest rates will support the USD. This is bad news for precious metals.
In that context, gold prices may decrease, fluctuating around 1,890.4 USD/ounce, equivalent to 54.6 million VND/tael.
