Although the fines for traffic violations from the beginning of 2025 are "very harsh", in front of many school gates in Buon Ma Thuot City (Dak Lak), the situation of motorbikes carrying three people without helmets speeding still occurs, making the surrounding people fed up.

Parents must be responsible
At noon on February 7, in front of the gate of Tran Phu Primary School (Thanh Cong Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City), Mr. D.VT (54 years old, resident of Thanh Cong Ward) rode a motorbike to pick up his two grandchildren and did not bring any helmets for them.
"The house is close by, I'll just run out here to pick them up quickly, no need for hats or caps", Mr. T. said subjectively.
Also at this school, just about 10 minutes after the school bell rang, dozens of parents picked up and dropped off their children by motorbike, but without their children wearing helmets.
Many motorbikes pick up students and carry three people, posing a potential traffic accident risk for road users.

Ms. T. (43 years old, a resident near Tran Phu Primary School) shared that young children may not be aware of the level of danger when participating in traffic, so "parents must be responsible".
"We cannot take lightly the issue of wearing helmets and carrying more people than the prescribed limit, because there have been so many unfortunate traffic accidents," said Ms. T.
The school has reminded
Similarly, many parents at other schools also ignore the regulations, letting their children ride bareheaded on major, crowded roads.
Speaking about this, Ms. Le Kim Dien - principal of Tran Phu Primary School - said that the school pays special attention to traffic safety, so the flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of the week reminds students to comply.
At school, security guards and red flag teams are also regularly present at the school gate to remind parents and students to comply with traffic safety laws. Students who repeatedly violate the law will be recorded in the "red book" and reminded weekly to set an example.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Huu Luat - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Buon Ma Thuot City - said that from the beginning of 2025, when the regulations on road traffic have specific regulations and high fines, the department and the City Traffic Safety Committee have issued documents to thoroughly instruct schools to remind parents and students.
"We also ask school principals to educate students and parents about traffic safety such as parking, wearing helmets, and not carrying more people than the prescribed number. Currently, schools do not allow parents to drive motorbikes or cars into school grounds to ensure the safety of students and teachers," said Mr. Luat.
There is subjectivity of parents after Tet holiday
Regarding traffic safety at schools, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Trong Tuan - Head of the Traffic Police Department of Dak Lak Province Police said that there was a lack of subjectivity among parents after Tet. In the future, the unit will request the Traffic Police force to increase patrols and handle violations at schools to raise parents' awareness.
According to Mr. Tuan, during the peak period of ensuring traffic safety at schools, thousands of cases of violations by students and parents were handled. The unit also organized many propaganda campaigns and signed commitments with schools.
"Recently, the department also issued a document advising the Provincial People's Committee to issue a document requesting the Department of Education and Training to remind schools to comply with traffic safety regulations. The units also regularly compile lists of students who violate the regulations and send them to schools to remind them, increasing deterrence," said Mr. Tuan.
