U.22 VN TEAM SCORES IN CHINA
The U.22 Vietnam team is making fans happy with their commendable performance and results at the CFA Team China 2025 friendly tournament (China). In 3 matches, the team of interim head coach Dinh Hong Vinh showed their solidity, bravery and ability to withstand pressure from the top teams in the continent. Although the U.22 Korea team did not bring the strongest force to the tournament, the U.22 Vietnam team also lost more than half of its main squad. The U.22 Uzbekistan team has always been in the top of the youth level in the continent in recent years, and the host U.22 China has clearly prepared very carefully with great ambitions. In all 3 matches, the U.22 Vietnam team was undefeated, scoring 2 goals against the U.22 Korea team and the U.22 China team. In particular, goalkeeper Cao Van Binh received the title of best player of the tournament, along with Van Ha, Hieu Minh, Van Truong, Quoc Viet, Thanh Nhan and the new Vietnamese-American player Viktor Le who played very well.
Coach Dinh Hong Vinh commented: "The current U.22 Vietnam squad is still not the most complete, because many important players have not been able to participate such as Trung Kien, Ly Duc, Thai Son, Vi Hao, Dinh Bac, Van Khang... These are individuals who have affirmed their abilities at youth and club levels. When the squad is fully formed, the U.22 Vietnam team will certainly have more choices, increase competitiveness and help the gameplay operate better. However, the recent tournament also brought opportunities for many other players to demonstrate and accumulate international competition experience. We have had a clearer view of the new factors and their adaptability in the general tactical system."

INCREASING COMPETITION TO HUNT FOR "GOLD" AT SEA GAMES 33
At the CFA Team China 2025 tournament, many new names have stepped into the light in an impressive way. Van Binh, Quoc Cuong, Anh Quan, Van Ha, Viktor Le, Phi Hoang... will be formidable opponents for the players who have affirmed their talent, helping to create a depth in the squad for the U.22 Vietnam team.
Coach Dinh Hong Vinh shared: "We deserved a better result against the U.22 China team when we confidently controlled the game well. However, the important thing is that the players showed progress and learned valuable lessons from this match. Overall, the CFA Team China 2025 tournament helped the players gain more experience in international competition, especially how to deal with opponents with different physiques and playing styles. The players improved their ability to control the game, maintain concentration and enhance coordination in the tactical system. These experiences will be very important in the preparation process for the U.23 Asian qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games. To aim for the SEA Games in Thailand, the coaching staff will continue to monitor and evaluate the development of all players, and make appropriate adjustments to build the strongest team. The journey ahead is full of challenges, but with reasonable reinforcements and careful preparation, U.22 Vietnam can completely aim for SEA Games 33 with confidence and determination to achieve the best results."
It is expected that the U.22 Vietnam team will have a training session in parallel with the Vietnam team at the FIFA Days in June, led by acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh. Because at this time, the Vietnam team will play the second match of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers against Malaysia, coach Kim Sang-sik will still hand over the team to assistant Vinh.
Coach Kim Sang-sik will directly supervise the U.22 Southeast Asian Championship in Indonesia in July and the U.23 Asian qualifiers in September. These will be extremely important preparation steps for the U.22 Vietnam team in the busy year of 2025, with the ultimate goal of winning the 33rd SEA Games gold medal.
