According to Engadget , Mr. Musk said the company will limit unverified accounts to 600 posts per day and new accounts to 300 tweets per day. Meanwhile, verified accounts can read 6,000 posts per day. That means, without paying for Twitter Blue, users will only be able to read a few hundred tweets before encountering the "read limit exceeded" error.
Billionaire Elon Musk is doing everything he can to get users to sign up for Twitter Blue
Less than two hours after posting the information, Mr. Musk updated in his tweet that Twitter would soon increase the limit to 8,000 for verified accounts and 800 for unverified accounts.
Mr Musk said the “temporary” restrictions were put in place to address issues of extreme data collection and system manipulation. “Hundreds of organizations have been harvesting Twitter data so aggressively that it’s affecting real-world user experience,” the billionaire tweeted.
He then claimed that “most AI companies” use Twitter to train their models. “It’s a pain to have to bring a bunch of servers online in an emergency just to let some AI startup exploit them,” he added.
For now, Mr. Musk has not made clear whether viewing ads will count toward a user’s view limit. Either way, the restrictions would severely limit Twitter’s usability, making it difficult to verify whether a screenshot of a tweet is authentic, for example.
Despite billionaire Musk's efforts to attract users to Twitter Blue, it seems the company has not been able to make up for the advertising funding it has lost since Musk took over.
