This is also quickly becoming the new norm, with product quality and specifications consistently topping the list of most important factors influencing consumers' TV purchasing decisions.
Samsung Electronics has just announced the results of its annual TV consumption trend survey, which shows that TVs have become the entertainment center of the home, demonstrated by the increasing popularity of large-screen TVs.
Over 1,920 consumers aged 25 to 64 across eight countries in Southeast Asia and Oceania were surveyed in Q3 2023. The majority of consumers in the region use their TVs for activities other than entertainment (58%) such as playing games, watching fitness videos, and even displaying pictures, photos, and videos while the TV is in standby mode. In fact, 24% of consumers surveyed said they use their TVs for gaming, with 50% of them enjoying console gaming.
The survey also showed that, for Vietnamese users, the greatest values of new TVs are allowing them to enjoy high-quality content (70%), supporting all the latest technologies and features (65%) and providing the most vivid cinematic experience possible (72%).
Factors such as sound quality and smart features play a major role in driving the decision to buy large-screen TVs like the Neo QLED 8K series. This shows that while consumers are not hesitant to buy large-screen TVs to decorate their living rooms, screen size is not the only factor driving the purchase decision.
“As we look to the future of home entertainment, the results from our latest TV Consumer Trends Survey once again confirm that consumers are enjoying their favorite content, and it is important to ensure that they have a premium viewing experience of the highest quality,” said Yohan Zondak, Head of Visual Display Business, Samsung Southeast Asia and Oceania.
