On the morning of February 12 (the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon), the People's Committee of Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province organized the launching ceremony of the first seafood fishing season of the year of the Dragon - 2024 and the traditional boat racing competition at the sea dike of Phu Lien village, Quynh Long commune.

This is one of the annual activities of fishermen in the coastal area of Quynh Long commune taking place in early Spring 2024.
Before the boat race took place, the local Party Committee and government held an Ancestor Announcement Ceremony at the Whale Temple in Dai Bac village with the meaning of praying for national peace and prosperity, favorable weather all year round, bountiful crops; Wishing for calm weather, calm seas, smooth sailing for ships and boats, full holds of fish and shrimp, and an increasingly prosperous life for the villagers, and at the same time for the villagers to remember their ancestors who had contributed to the establishment of the village.

This year's boat race has the participation of 8 boat teams from 8 villages in the commune with more than 100 athletes, divided into 4 groups, competing in 7 boat races, on a 200m round trip race.
With the spirit of sportsmanship, solidarity, honesty... the boat teams competed with all their might for the flag and colors, attracting thousands of people from the communes and neighboring areas to watch, cheer, creating a joyful and bustling atmosphere for the seafood fishing launch ceremony.
The Organizing Committee awarded the First Prize to the team from Dai Bac village, Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province.
Besides the boat racing activities on this occasion, the locality also organizes cultural exchange programs to create a vibrant and attractive atmosphere to serve the people during Tet.
At the end of the boat racing tournament, the organizing committee awarded the Championship prize to Dai Bac village team, Second prize to Phu Lien village team, Third prize to Thanh Cong village team, Cong Hoa village team and 4 Encouragement prizes to the remaining units.
