Coach Philippe Troussier will drop seven players before the Vietnamese team leaves for the Philippines on November 13. The first name announced is Truong Tien Anh.
Having played regularly during the recent friendly period, Tien Anh did not leave much of an impression in terms of expertise. He did not bring confidence in defense nor changeability when participating in attack.
Viettel's player played well in the most recent match against the Korean team, but that was not enough for him to keep his place in the official tournament.

Coach Troussier's decision did not surprise many people. He still has many other players who play well in the right-back position such as Vu Van Thanh, Pham Xuan Manh and Ho Van Cuong.
Van Thanh is in good form for the Hanoi Police Club and Van Cuong is his backup for the team. Meanwhile, Xuan Manh can play as a right back and also play well as a central midfielder.
The group of young players called up to practice with their seniors, including Cao Van Binh (SLNA), Nguyen Quang Huy (Ba Ria Vung Tau), Ha Van Phuong (CAHN), Tran Manh Quynh (SLNA), Tran Nam Hai (SLNA), Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong (Ba Ria Vung Tau), Vo Nguyen Hoang (Dong A Thanh Hoa) and Bui Vi Hao (B.Binh Duong) also had to say goodbye.
None of these eight young players performed well enough for Coach Troussier to change his mind. They were initially called up to gain experience and gradually adapt to the national team environment. This group of players still has many opportunities in the next training sessions.
The Vietnamese team is preparing to enter the first official tournament under coach Troussier. Que Ngoc Hai and his teammates will visit the Philippines on November 16. The Vietnamese team will then return home to host the Iraqi team on November 21.
Coach Troussier and his team need at least 3 points to avoid being left behind in the race for tickets to the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup.
