Musician Thanh Bui seeks football talent for La Liga

On the morning of April 11, La Liga and EA Ssports launched the "Search and Development of Young Talent" (Next Gen Draft) program in Vietnam through the International Sports Academy (VIIS) of singer and musician Thanh Bui.

200 male and female athletes under 16 years old will compete at Gia Dinh Stadium from April 11 to 13 to find 8 members to represent Vietnam to train in Spain.

The program aims to discover and nurture young football talents around the world. Vietnam is one of five countries selected: Spain, South Africa, Singapore and Mexico.

Musician Thanh Bui - founder of La Liga Vietnam Academy - said: "The program is like a small seed. It sows dreams for children, the dream of one day playing for Real Madrid Club.

We cannot compare Vietnamese football with La Liga because people go too far. However, I hope that the long-term goal is for Vietnam to have well-trained players who can go out into the world like Mbappe.

To be honest, Thanh fought very hard to bring this project to Vietnam. Thanh and La Liga as well as EA Sports recognize that these are the first steps on a long journey."

8 La Liga scholarships with 100% sponsorship fee will be for 4 boys and 4 girls under 16 years old. These 8 athletes will have to overcome 200 others to be screened by coaches from La Liga according to their own criteria.

Coach Ruben of the project said the selection criteria are the way the players approach the ball, the way they think about playing football and sportsmanship on the important selection day taking place on April 13 at Gia Dinh Stadium.

Talking about not selecting players from professional training centers, Mr. Pablo Casaos, chief representative of La Liga in Vietnam, affirmed: "Opportunities are open to all children."

The selection process will take place continuously from April 11 to 13, with the content of assessing skills, physical strength and tactical thinking according to international standards: Rush Tournament round, training session according to the FC Future model, playing a complete match, and finally training in Spain.
