On the afternoon of June 8, information from the Tuong Duong District Police, Nghe An Province, said that a drug trafficking and storage ring from Laos to Vietnam had just been dismantled, with 5 suspects arrested.
Seized evidence included 988 synthetic drug pills, 39.9 grams of heroin, 9 homemade guns, 12 knives and swords of various types, and 1 pepper spray.
Through the process of monitoring and establishing a project, using professional measures, on June 5, 2024, at Dua village, Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong district, Nghe An, Tuong Duong district police coordinated with the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of the Provincial Police to successfully break the project, arresting 5 subjects including: Luong Thi Da (born in 1982), Lo May Sao (born in 1976), Nguyen Van Thai (born in 1990), Vi Van Cong (born in 1985) and Xen Van Ngoc (born in 2002); all residing in Tuong Duong district, arrested for the act of "Illegal buying, selling and storing of drugs".
Through investigation, the authorities determined that this group of subjects regularly colluded and connected with subjects across the border to form a drug trafficking ring from Laos to Vietnam. The subjects' method was to choose rugged mountainous terrain, assign strict security and use drug addicts as "henchmen" to distribute drugs when requested by customers. Among them, the subjects in the ring had criminal records related to drugs and were always armed to fight back against the authorities when they were surrounded and arrested.
The case is being handled by Tuong Duong District Police according to the provisions of law.
