At the end of August 2016, the Department of Industry and Trade and the People's Committee of Dong Giang commune officially organized a twinning ceremony and since then, every year they have paid attention to building a plan for exchange and twinning as a basis for implementation. At the same time, this is considered a key task assigned by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to the staff sector to implement, contributing to the comprehensive construction and development of people's lives, economy and society in ethnic minority areas in the spirit of Resolution 04 of the Provincial Party Committee. Because Dong Giang - a highland commune of Ham Thuan Bac district, up to 95% of the population is ethnic minorities with many ethnic groups (Co Ho, Raglay, Cham, Tay, Nung, Cho Ro, Khmer, Stieng ...), mainly the Co Ho ethnic group. The majority of the people of the commune live mainly on agriculture, with the rate of poor and near-poor households accounting for more than 40%, benefiting from the policies of the national target program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

In implementing support activities, the sector has advised the Provincial People's Committee to direct, monitor and urge Binh Thuan Electricity Company to implement the project of supplying electricity to villages and hamlets without electricity in the local ethnic minority areas under the direction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. In the past time, the whole sector has always made efforts to continue to maintain and uphold the 4th criterion - rural electricity has been completed, up to now, 100% of households in Dong Giang commune have access to electricity... In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade also organized a training course on developing commercial human resources in Dong Giang for commune officials working in trade management, production - business establishments, and small traders in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Mobilizing commercial enterprises in the province to conduct mobile sales to Dong Giang commune on the occasion of Lunar New Year, meeting the needs of purchasing essential goods with guaranteed quality at reasonable prices for people.

For the past 8 consecutive years (from 2016 to 2023), every year, Binh Thuan Industry and Trade Department has coordinated with units and enterprises to organize many meaningful exchange and support activities for the mountainous commune of Dong Giang. Such as giving gifts to families with preferential policies, organizing the Mid-Autumn Festival for children and giving notebooks to poor students who have overcome difficulties to study well, students with difficult circumstances in the commune. Or replacing and repairing the electrical system of Dong Giang Secondary School to serve teaching needs, mobilizing enterprises to support 30 wall fans for schools in Dong Giang... During the complicated period of the Covid-19 epidemic, in addition to directly supporting 600 antibacterial cloth masks (worth 4.8 million VND), the Department of Industry and Trade also mobilized enterprises to donate 1,500 antibacterial cloth masks (worth 12 million VND) to help the locality prevent and control the epidemic. On the occasion of celebrating the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of Binh Thuan province, the industry has implemented the project of installing a public lighting system using solar energy in Dong Giang commune with a scale of 30 light bulbs on a 1.5 km long road...

In the coming time, the whole industry will continue to maintain and include the twinning work with Dong Giang commune in the content of the program and plan to implement the agency's political tasks. Every year, coordinate with the People's Committee of Dong Giang commune to develop a program and plan to implement specific tasks, especially focusing on new, practical and suitable activities to attract people to actively respond and participate in the implementation... Through exchange and twinning activities, we aim to strengthen the solidarity between the Department of Industry and Trade and the highland commune of Dong Giang and between union members, civil servants and public employees of the industry and the ethnic minorities here. Thereby helping people raise awareness, change their thinking and ways of doing things to bring efficiency in production as well as pay attention to preserving the national cultural identity, contributing to the development of people's livelihood and socio-economy in Dong Giang.
