On April 2, the exhibition "Listening to the story of fabric" by artist Tran Thanh Thuc opened at the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts (66 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Ba Dinh, Hanoi ).

For the past 45 years, artist Tran Thanh Thuc has used only one material, which is pre-printed colors on pieces of fabric to create unique, artistic fabric-cut paintings. No palette, no paintbrush. Each painting is simply pieces of fabric placed next to each other. Therefore, each painting is unique.

In this third exhibition, the female artist brings to the public 75 canvas paintings of various sizes and themes. Each work is a landscape full of emotions stretching across the S-shaped strip of land, and at the same time contains the artist's profound story. Sometimes it tells about her childhood with the flower trellis of the well in the countryside, about the ferry trip to school between two alarm sirens, or the emotions after each trip to admire the beautiful scenery of her homeland.

Born in Nam Dinh , but artist Tran Thanh Thuc studied, grew up and created in Hanoi, so she is always grateful and loves this land. Hanoi is also a strong theme in the artist's works. The public will enjoy the peaceful, beautiful, unique and luxurious image of Hanoi, with different seasons, different perspectives through colorful layers of fabric.

The two large-scale landscape paintings measuring 200cm x 90cm, introduced for the first time at this exhibition, are both special. The painting “Blooming Rocks” depicts the stunning beauty of the northern mountainous region and the work “Remembering Hanoi” contains scenes full of memories and emotions.

Having passed his sixties, he has created for himself greater challenges in this third solo exhibition, showing that, for the artist, “his steps are still not tired, his dreams are still endless, and his canvas colors are still captivating.”

The artist shared: “The colors of fabric collected from all regions have no small connection. Like a fate, I especially love and have a great passion for the patterns printed on each piece of fabric. Each painting is like a small story, taking us back to memories. Feeling time passing on each roof, accompanying us through each mountain peak of the mountainous region... That is the fabric material. They can tell stories and praise.”
