This afternoon, August 19, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien chaired a working session with the Vietnam Maritime Administration on the implementation of the dredging project combined with product recovery of Cua Viet maritime channel.

The Cua Viet dredging and product recovery project (referred to as the Project) is located at the Cua Viet waterway, from buoy number 0 to the turning area of Cua Viet general port, with a length of 2.8 km.
The project's objective is to dredge the Cua Viet shipping channel to meet the requirements of ships with a capacity of up to 5,000 DWT combined with the recovery of dredged products. The scale of the project and dredging standards include a dredged bottom width of 60 m and a dredged bottom elevation of -5.6 m (Naval Chart). The project implementation process will create a clear channel for ships to move smoothly, while recovering products and contributing to the state budget.
The project was announced by the Ministry of Transport in the list of dredging projects for seaport waters combined with product recovery under the management of the Ministry of Transport and authorized to the Vietnam Maritime Administration as the competent state agency to implement in accordance with the law.
Currently, the Vietnam Maritime Administration is organizing the implementation of the project feasibility study report preparation phase, including approving the outline, tasks and cost estimates for investment preparation to prepare the feasibility study report, approving the contractor selection plan, the results of the bid appointment and signing contracts with consulting units.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien emphasized that this is an important project in dredging the waterway, meeting the increasing demand for sea transport through Cua Viet port. In order for the project to be implemented soon, the Vietnam Maritime Administration is requested to promptly hand over the original documents to the competent authority.
Actively coordinate and assign staff to participate with the province's professional agencies in the process of reviewing, preparing feasibility study reports, appraising, approving and implementing the next steps of the project. Pay attention to arranging funds for regular and annual dredging maintenance to ensure the standards of Cua Viet waterway.
Relevant departments, branches and localities are requested to actively coordinate with units in implementing the project. In particular, guiding investors to carry out procedures on environmental records; determining costs related to project implementation and value of recovered products; guiding on calculating the project's financial plan according to legal regulations.
Analyze the composition, content, and volume of the resource as a basis for determining the price for calculating the resource tax to determine the value of the recovered product. Review and evaluate the impacts of the project on aquaculture activities and the impact on the agricultural sector. Evaluate the suitability of the planning, the impact of the project on the administrative boundaries under the management authority and security and order issues in the area; impacts on factors related to borders and national defense and security at sea.
