(Fatherland) - On the evening of December 6, in Hai Phong, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Hai Phong city and relevant units to organize the 4th ASEAN Graphic Painting Competition and Exhibition - Vietnam 2024.

The ASEAN Graphic Painting Competition and Exhibition is a cultural and artistic activity organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism every four years in Vietnam (from 2016 to present), aiming to introduce works by painters and sculptors from ASEAN countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said that the 2024 ASEAN Graphic Painting Competition and Exhibition is meaningful, honoring the creative achievements of ASEAN artists, contributing to affirming the solidarity and unity of the ASEAN community through the connection of painting in particular and art in general.

Over the years, Vietnam has demonstrated remarkable efforts in cooperation within the ASEAN framework, focusing on promoting artistic exchanges to effectively implement the ASEAN Cultural and Arts Strategy Plan for the period 2016-2025. The ASEAN Graphic Painting Competition and Exhibition not only promotes people-to-people and cultural and artistic exchanges in the region but also affirms Vietnam's positive position and proactive role in ASEAN cultural and artistic cooperation.
The works are about life, people, natural landscapes, countries, praising peace, solidarity, cooperation, friendship and contemporary issues of shared concern among ASEAN countries. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese artists and artists from ASEAN countries to exchange, discuss and introduce new achievements in graphic art creation in the region; introduce the culture, country and people of each country in the ASEAN community.
The organizers awarded the first prize to the winning author.
The contest was launched on May 31, 2024 in Hanoi. After 5 months of launching, the Organizing Committee received 530 entries from 283 authors from 10 ASEAN member countries. The International Arts Council of the 4th ASEAN Graphic Arts Competition and Exhibition - Vietnam 2024 has judged and selected 16 best works to be awarded prizes (including 01 First Prize, 03 Second Prizes, 05 Third Prizes, 07 Encouragement Prizes). The prizes awarded at this competition will be a source of encouragement and motivation for ASEAN graphic artists to have more motivation and strength, to continue to create more quality works, contributing to enriching the graphic art picture of the region.
Mr. Ta Quang Dong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Mr. Le Khac Nam - Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee awarded certificates and flowers to members of the Art Council of the Competition.
The 4th ASEAN Graphic Arts Exhibition - Vietnam 2024 displays 153 works by 123 authors from 10 ASEAN countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The works selected for display at the exhibition are rich and diverse in form, content and expression techniques. With the methods of printmaking art: relief printing, sunken printing, flat printing, see-through printing, monoprinting, digital printing, photosensitive printing combined with different techniques and expression materials, the artists will bring newness and excitement to each work, stimulating the vision and emotions of viewers with subtle expressions due to the effectiveness of graphic art.
