UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited Türkiye on June 10 to promote cooperation between the two countries in a range of areas, especially the economy. Host country President Recep Tayyip Erdogan personally went to Ataturk Airport to welcome the royal guest.
During the meeting in Istanbul, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed expressed his joy at meeting his counterpart Erdogan again, and congratulated him on his success in the recent election as well as the trust and confidence the Turkish people have in him.
Appreciating the recent developments in UAE-Türkiye relations, the two leaders discussed their shared interest in promoting sustainable economic growth and social development, and explored opportunities for further cooperation in key areas including economy, advanced technology, renewable energy, transport and logistics, manufacturing, tourism and culture.

The meeting between the two Presidents follows the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and Türkiye in March. The agreement aims to strengthen strategic cooperation and sustainable economic growth for the benefit of the two countries, their peoples and the region.
Regional observers say strengthening ties with Gulf states will be high on President Erdogan's agenda as he seeks to boost ties and attract investment to Turkey, which is struggling with a stagnant economy and a weakening lira.
Türkiye has been one of the few destinations on Sheikh Mohamed's foreign trips since becoming UAE President 13 months ago, reflecting the depth of bilateral ties.
Non-oil trade turnover between the two countries is expected to reach nearly $19 billion in 2022, up 40% from 2021 and more than 100% from 2020, making Türkiye the fastest growing partner among the UAE's top 10 trading partners.
In November 2021, the UAE announced the establishment of a $10 billion investment fund in Türkiye, focusing on strategic investment projects, especially in the fields of logistics, energy, healthcare and food.
