French President Emmanuel Macron is about to visit Vietnam

The French President said he will send a number of ministers to work with Vietnam to prepare for his upcoming visit.
Speaking with French President Emmanuel Macron at the meeting on the occasion of the World Climate Action Summit (COP28) taking place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the development of the Vietnam-France strategic partnership.

The Prime Minister respectfully conveyed the warm greetings of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong and the invitation of the French President to visit Vietnam. The Head of Government also suggested that the two countries continue to strengthen cooperation and implement the contents agreed upon in the phone call between General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Macron on October 20. Accordingly, promoting the exchange of delegations at all levels, boosting cooperation in economics, security, defense, trade, investment, science and technology, education and training, innovation, digital transformation, green transformation, culture and people-to-people exchange. Believing that there is a harmonious connection between the two countries in culture, architecture and painting, the Prime Minister suggested that France actively support Vietnam in restoring and preserving historical relics. President Macron reiterated his good impressions of the country and people of Vietnam, highly appreciated the prospects of bilateral relations and fully agreed that the two sides need to coordinate more effectively and comprehensively in all potential areas. He said he would send a number of ministers to visit Vietnam, discuss and coordinate with Vietnamese partners to review and promote specific cooperation activities, especially in economics, trade and investment. President Macron affirmed that the French Government has a roadmap to ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA). These will be good and thorough preparations for the President's visit in the coming time. He also affirmed that the French Government will accompany and support Vietnam in implementing the Political Declaration on the Partnership for a Just Energy Transition (JETP).

Accelerating the transition to coal power

To do this, Vietnam will perfect its institutions, legal framework, and policy mechanisms to switch to renewable energy with a suitable roadmap and steps.

EU, US leaders and organizations affirm to accompany Vietnam in the energy transition process

The Prime Minister thanked the G7 countries, including France, and other international partners for supporting Vietnam in energy transition, especially through the implementation of JETP. At the same time, he asked the partners to increase support for Vietnam in terms of preferential finance, advanced technology, training high-quality human resources and building a smart governance system. The leaders of France, the President of the European Commission, the United States and leaders of international financial organizations and institutions welcomed Vietnam's commitments and efforts. The partners also affirmed that they will support and accompany Vietnam in the energy transition process.
