Summary of the project

Conference overview.

According to the report of the Provincial Farmers' Association Waste Treatment Project Management Board (abbreviated as: Project Management Board), after more than 2 years of implementation (from July 2022 to December 2024), the project "Propaganda and mobilization of farmers to treat waste in Vietnam, contributing to the international community's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions", the technical stages of the project and the communication and propaganda steps have been seriously implemented, in the spirit that people are the subject of all activities. The project is implemented in 11 communes and towns of Quang Xuong, Thieu Hoa and Yen Dinh districts. Thereby, it has created favorable conditions for cadres, farmer members and people to access environmentally friendly waste treatment methods.

Summary of the project

Comrade Tran Binh Quan, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, Director of the Project Management Board delivered the opening speech at the conference.

With the “hands-on” method, the Project Management Board organized 55 training courses on environmentally friendly waste treatment, with the participation of nearly 300 officials, members and farmers. The training courses focused on 5 technical stages: Fermenting crop by-products for animal feed; raising chickens on thick biological bedding; composting organic fertilizer from crop by-products; raising calcium worms and earthworms.

Up to now, the whole province has built 110 models of raising chickens on thick biological bedding; 165 models for the technique of "Fermenting animal feed"; 165 models for the technique of "Processing straw in the field"; 110 models of the techniques of "Raising earthworms" and "Raising calcium worms".

One of the highlights of the project is the positive impact on farmers' thinking, awareness and actions on environmental protection. From being unfamiliar with concepts and techniques, it has now become a need to treat waste and waste in the production process and life. Initially, with 180 households participating in 11 communes and towns of Quang Xuong, Thieu Hoa and Yen Dinh districts, it has now spread strongly to many localities in the province. Currently, there are thousands of households in localities such as Trieu Son, Thuong Xuan, Nhu Thanh, Thach Thanh, Nga Son, Ha Trung, Nong Cong, Hau Loc, Tho Xuan... applying techniques in environmentally friendly waste treatment.
