Having held many important positions assigned by the Party, the State and the People, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has made many great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and our nation, especially in the cause of renovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland. As a senior military officer, I once had the opportunity to directly meet the Chairman of the National Assembly, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, listen to him visit and talk, and once listen to the General Secretary speak at the Military-Political Conference of the entire army. During my time working in the army, and later as a veteran, through following the media about his activities, I had very profound perceptions.
Devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh, a staunch communist, a shining example, a great intellect, a great talent of the Vietnamese revolution, a thinker, a culturalist, a theoretical flag bearer of the Party. He constantly studied and followed the ideology, morality, and style of the great President Ho Chi Minh, devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and our nation, and lived his whole life for the country and the people. During 55 years of continuous activities, tempered by revolutionary practice, in positions at all levels up to General Secretary, with a profound and comprehensive strategic vision, sharp thinking, and profound practical summary, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, together with the Party Central Committee, creatively applied and developed Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought into the Vietnamese revolutionary practice. The General Secretary constantly paid attention to building a clean and strong Party; Building a socialist rule-of-law state of the people, by the people, for the people; constantly supplementing, perfecting and leading the successful implementation of the renovation policy, building the country, so that our country "has never had such a foundation, potential, prestige and international position as today". General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong always puts Party work and Party building in the top position. Creatively applying Ho Chi Minh's thought, he has deeply clarified the nature and role of the Party in the process of national renovation, in building a ruling Party from the practice of renovation in Vietnam. He and the Central Executive Committee have proposed and led the successful implementation of strategic policies on Party building and rectification; determinedly and persistently fighting against individualism, against the degradation of political ideology, ethics and lifestyle. Fighting corruption and negative waste goes hand in hand with constantly cultivating revolutionary ethics, mettle, capacity, exemplary pioneering spirit, promoting fine traditions, and a close relationship with the people. He always used Uncle Ho's example to remind Party members and cadres to follow: "On this shirt there is not a single medal, under this shirt there is a heart". Since then, our Party has led the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army to achieve many great achievements in the cause of national renewal, defeating all sabotage plots of hostile forces, building and defending the Fatherland, and building a society that is truly "ethical and civilized". In the cultural field, imbued with Ho Chi Minh's thought, deeply aware of the important position and role of culture, "Culture is the soul of the nation", "If culture exists, the nation exists", thoroughly grasping Uncle Ho's guiding ideology: "Culture lights the way for the nation", Culturalist Nguyen Phu Trong, an outstanding leader on the cultural front of the Party, is truly dedicated to building an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity, truly the spiritual foundation of society, an endogenous strength, an important driving force for national development. He always criticizes unhealthy, hybrid, and toxic cultural manifestations that infiltrate and cause negative impacts when posted on the mass media. Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, together with the Party Central Committee, has developed Vietnam's foreign policy thinking, from summarizing practices to forming the art of "Bamboo diplomacy"; Building and developing Vietnam's foreign affairs and diplomacy with the qualities of perseverance, resilience, and steadfastness in the face of all changes of the "Vietnamese bamboo tree". From there, creating for our country the position, prestige, and image of Vietnam as a reliable partner, an active and responsible member, prominent in the international arena as it is today. Never before has Vietnam integrated so deeply into the world economy, international politics, and human civilization as it is today. But still maintaining independence, autonomy, and national identity. In the ideology of comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, the People, the people, always wholeheartedly and wholeheartedly serve the people, build people. Always take the People as the subject, the center of the innovation process. All for the happiness of the people. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has persistently devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause of our Party and nation with a spirit and will as strong as steel, not retreating in the face of obstacles and difficulties, nothing can stop him. Reality has affirmed a great personality, considering "Honor as the most sacred and noble thing", upholding principles, living his whole life for the country and the people. He is truly a typical example, a model of pure revolutionary ethics, "impartiality", a simple lifestyle, a democratic, dedicated, scientific working style, respect and love for people... In conferences, he always cares about educating cadres and party members with very sincere and profound words and verses, arousing the self-respect of each person to eliminate bad things, aiming to do good things, "a heart is worth three talents". Many ideas, guiding principles, and principles of action in preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity initiated and directed by the General Secretary have been effective, confirmed through practice, and brought about many valuable lessons, both theoretically and practically. In the situation of corruption that has persisted in a large number of Party members and cadres, he both directed resolute handling and reminded, "What's the use of having a lot of money, you can't take it with you when you die, honor is the most sacred and noble thing", those who "have their hands dirty" should honestly declare and be specifically considered, which is also a very humane viewpoint. He is a shining example, consistent between words and actions. With high determination, persistently fighting without stopping, manifested between years of preparation and concrete actions in the "war against internal invaders". In recent years, the Party and State's work to prevent and combat corruption, waste and negativity has achieved many outstanding results, creating strong changes in the awareness and actions of the entire political system, increasing the trust and excitement of cadres, party members and people towards the Party, the State and our beautiful socialist regime. During his 55-year career, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has always studied and followed Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style of "diligence, thrift, integrity, uprightness, impartiality and selflessness"; working style is close to the grassroots, close to the people and cadres at all levels; in his work, he always demonstrates a high sense of responsibility, a serious attitude, a scientific and decisive working method, upholds principles, promotes democracy, respects and listens to the opinions of all classes and all subjects. Comrade always implements the program of meeting voters, listening to people's opinions, is trusted, loved by cadres, party members, and people, respected and highly appreciated by international friends. In daily life, comrade lives simply, modestly, exemplary, sincerely, is a shining example of a communist for cadres and party members to learn from and follow. I have heard many stories about the daily life of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. At class reunions, comrade regularly attends and contributes to the class fund like everyone else. The wedding of his children is organized very simply, without inviting many guests... Pay attention to building armed forces in general and the army in particular.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is very interested in building the armed forces in general and the army in particular. I only met him once for a few minutes, but he left a deep impression. After the 11th National Party Congress, he was elected General Secretary of the Party Central Committee, but at that time he was still Chairman of the National Assembly. I was the Head of the Border Patrol Road Project Management Board of the Ministry of National Defense, together with two officers, Colonel Bui Xuan Truong and Colonel Duong Van Khanh, to work with the National Defense and Security Committee and the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly. Seeing him walking in the yard, we came to greet and congratulate the General Secretary. He asked: Where are you military comrades going? I reported that we in the Border Patrol Road Project Management Board of the Ministry of National Defense were working with the agencies of the National Assembly on allocating government bond capital for the projects. The military units had overcome all difficulties to build the road quickly, well, and cheaply, ensuring the requirements of National Defense - Security and socio-economic development along the border, bringing practical results. Regarding the capital of the Government bonds that needed to be supplemented, the National Assembly was requested to pay attention to the arrangement. During the more than ten minutes of conversation, the comrade kindly asked about the aspects of ensuring the life and regime for the troops, the need to ensure their health, and the determination to complete the assigned tasks well. Regarding funding, the comrade reminded us to work with the agencies of the National Assembly, the National Assembly Standing Committee, and the National Assembly would consider and resolve the specific issues. With his very close and friendly demeanor and gestures, the comrade left in each of us a very deep and respectful impression. In his positions as Chairman of the National Assembly, President, General Secretary - Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong always paid deep attention to the People's Army, taking care to build a strong, united and cohesive Army. He often advised the armed forces to imbibe, study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, to consider "Honor as the most sacred and noble thing", to wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and the people, and "to rely on the people to work". He always reminded the Army to "be truly loyal, respectful and loving to the people", to be closely attached to the people, to protect the interests of the people, to make the people trust and help them more and more, and to always be worthy of the title "Uncle Ho's soldiers". Reality shows that, under the leadership of the Party, directly by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Army is gradually being built with a streamlined and compact organizational structure for both agencies at all levels and units, merging a number of agencies and units, reducing staff, building a truly clean and strong force with increasingly modern weapons and equipment, good training, high combat readiness, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation; performing well the tasks of a combat army, a working army, a production labor army, achieving many important achievements and results.
