The workshop is a practical activity to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the birth of comrade Nguyen Luong Bang (April 2, 1904 - April 2, 2024), former member of the Party Central Committee, former Vice President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee Tran Duc Thang; Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Phan Xuan Thuy; Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front To Thi Bich Chau; Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Le Van Loi co-chaired the Workshop.

In his opening speech, Professor, Doctor Nguyen Xuan Thang said that comrade Nguyen Luong Bang was born into a poor farmer family in Dong village, Doan Lam commune, Doan Lam district (now Dong village, Thanh Tung commune), Thanh Mien district, Hai Duong province. He was a member of the first generation of the Party during the Party's founding, a typical senior leader of the Party and the Vietnamese revolution.
On the journey of working to earn a living and studying culture on his own, while finding a way to fight for patriotism, in 1925, comrade Nguyen Luong Bang met leader Nguyen Ai Quoc and was admitted to the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association. Immediately after completing the training course in Guangzhou, he volunteered to return to the country to work to establish a communication system between the country and abroad, build a core cadre team, and establish revolutionary bases and organizations both at home and abroad. In October 1929, in Hong Kong, comrade Nguyen Luong Bang was admitted to the Annam Communist Party and was one of the first generation of communist party members.
During 20 years of revolutionary activities under the colonial regime, he was arrested three times and twice organized prison breaks to return to revolutionary activities. After successfully escaping for the second time (1943), he was appointed to participate in the Central Committee in charge of finance, military affairs and the front, and participated in the Leadership Committee of the Viet Minh General Department.
At the Party's National Conference, he was elected as a member of the Party Central Committee and was elected by the Tan Trao National Congress to the Standing Committee of the National Liberation Committee, consisting of 5 members, headed by President Ho Chi Minh. He participated in leading the successful August General Uprising and joined the delegation of the revolutionary government to receive the abdication of Bao Dai - the last king of the feudal regime in our country.
After the country gained independence, comrade Nguyen Luong Bang held many important positions of the Party and State, such as: Head of the Central Economic and Financial Committee (1947); General Director of the National Bank of Vietnam (1951 - 1952); Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam to the Soviet Union (1952 - 1956); Head of the Central Inspection Committee (1955 - 1969), Inspector General of the Government (1956 - 1965); Vice President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (1969 - 1976) and Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (1976 - 1979).

Comrade Nguyen Luong Bang has always been a pioneer in organizing the implementation of new revolutionary tasks. When assigned the responsibility of Head of the Central Economic and Financial Commission, he has made many contributions with many important achievements such as: building an economic and financial organizational system from the Central to the regions and provinces; many correct economic and financial policies and guidelines have been implemented; building a team of financial cadres of the Party with good qualities and capacity, contributing key cadres to the economic and financial sectors of the country.
When assigned the task of General Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Comrade Nguyen Luong Bang devoted all his mind and energy to building a solid foundation for the Bank's operations. Only one month after the establishment of the State Bank of Vietnam, under the leadership and management of Comrade Nguyen Luong Bang, bank notes were issued and quickly received the response of the people. Bank notes followed enemy cadres deep into the temporarily occupied areas, repelling Indochina bank notes, affirming the monetary sovereignty of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
As the first Ambassador of our country to the Soviet Union since 1952, Comrade Nguyen Luong Bang actively contributed to making the leaders of the Party, State and people of the Soviet Union understand and support Vietnam's resistance war against the invasion, creating conditions for the two Parties, two States and people of the two countries to unite and bond. Performing the task of Head of the Central Inspection Committee, Inspector General of the Central Inspection Committee of the Government, Comrade Nguyen Luong Bang closely directed the inspection and examination of strict compliance with Party discipline, especially the contents related to personnel work and organizational rectification, land reform issues, and handling of complaints and denunciations.
As Vice President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam since 1969 and Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam since 1976, Comrade Nguyen Luong Bang made important contributions in many aspects: focusing on the highest goal of building a socialist North, liberating the South and unifying the country; building and perfecting the State apparatus; taking care of Party building; foreign affairs; building and developing the armed forces; developing the socio-economy, improving the material and spiritual life of the people.
Comrade Nguyen Luong Bang is a beautiful example of an exemplary communist, one of the excellent students of President Ho Chi Minh, who was loyal to the country and filial to the people all his life. In imperialist prisons, he did not hesitate to sacrifice and endure hardships; he was steadfast and indomitable in the face of the enemy. When the young revolutionary government had just been born, in a "life-threatening" situation, when forming a coalition government, Comrade Nguyen Luong Bang and a number of leaders of the Party and the Viet Minh Front voluntarily withdrew from the provisional government to make way for outstanding intellectuals to participate. President Ho Chi Minh assessed: "That was a selfless, good gesture, not greedy for position, putting the interests of the nation and national unity above personal interests. That was a commendable and respectable gesture that we must learn".
While holding high positions in the Party and State, he was always an example of diligence, thrift, integrity, impartiality, and action; lived modestly, simply, with affection, and loved his comrades and compatriots with all his heart. Colleagues and friends gave him affectionate names such as "Red Star" and "Big Brother", considering him "a symbol of exemplary conduct and the purity of comradeship and brotherhood".
Hai Duong is a land rich in traditional cultural values and history. The fine traditions of the homeland are the foundation and important internal strength to form the personality and aspirations of revolutionary soldier Nguyen Luong Bang. Later, on his career path, he always reserved the best feelings for his homeland, still taking time to visit and work with the Party Committee and people of the province.

Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee Tran Duc Thang affirmed that the Party Committee and all classes of people of Hai Duong are always proud of and strive to learn from the example of comrade Nguyen Luong Bang and other pioneers, striving to make Hai Duong a modern industrial province by 2025, and a modern industrial province by 2030 as set out in the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress. Through the half of the 2020 - 2025 term, Hai Duong's economy continues to maintain its growth momentum, with the total product in the province (GRDP) in the 2021 - 2023 period estimated to increase by an average of 8.58% per year. In 2023, the province's socio-economic development has achieved and exceeded 13/15 planned targets, of which the province's economic growth is estimated at 8.2%, ranking 13/63 nationwide and 6/11 in the Red River Delta region.
The workshop aims to review the vibrant and rich revolutionary life, contributing to honoring the great contributions of the comrade to the Party and the Vietnamese revolution. At the same time, it is an opportunity to express the deep gratitude of cadres, party members and people of all walks of life to comrade Nguyen Luong Bang - a loyal and exemplary communist, a talented leader of the Party and the Vietnamese revolution, an outstanding son of his homeland Hai Duong.
