At exactly 6:00 a.m. on July 9, at the Can Tho City Party Committee Hall, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the family solemnly held a memorial service and sent off comrade Le Phuoc Tho, former member of the Politburo, former Head of the Central Organizing Committee, to his final resting place according to the State funeral ceremony.

The eulogy reads: Comrade Le Phuoc Tho was an outstanding leader, with great prestige for the Party, State and people, a loyal communist party member, who devoted his whole life and sacrificed for the ideals of national independence, socialism, and the happiness of the people. His life spanned nearly a century, associated with many ups and downs of life.

The eulogy also emphasized that comrade Le Phuoc Tho had spent nearly a century striving tirelessly, fulfilling his responsibilities as a cadre and party member, being absolutely loyal to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, always dedicated to his work, always ready to receive and complete well all assigned tasks.
Comrade Le Phuoc Tho (commonly known as Sau Hau) was born on December 25, 1927; his hometown is Tan Loc commune, Ca Mau district, Minh Hai province (now Thoi Binh district, Ca Mau province); his permanent residence is Le Lai street, An Phu ward, Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city. Comrade Le Phuoc Tho participated in the August 1945 revolution and joined the Party on February 10, 1949. He was an alternate member of the Party Central Committee, term IV; member of the Party Central Committee, term V, VI, VII; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, term VI, VII; member of the Politburo, term VII; National Assembly delegate, term VIII, IX. For his many contributions and outstanding achievements to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, he was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal by the Party and the State; 75 years of Party membership badge and many other noble medals and awards.
After a period of serious illness, despite the devoted care and treatment of the Party, the State, a group of professors, doctors and his family, due to old age and poor health, he passed away at 1:46 a.m. on July 6, 2023 at his home, at the age of 96. To express condolences and acknowledge the achievements and contributions of comrade Le Phuoc Tho, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to hold a funeral for comrade Le Phuoc Tho with the rites of a State funeral.
At the funeral, on behalf of the family, Mr. Le Hung Dung, the eldest son of comrade Le Phuoc Tho, expressed his deep gratitude to the leaders, former leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly, Government, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; leaders of central agencies and provinces and cities; relatives, friends... who organized the funeral, visited, sent wreaths, visited, and expressed condolences to the bereaved family. Standing emotionally in front of the coffin of his beloved father, Mr. Le Hung Dung and his family vowed to follow his example, live a useful life for the homeland and country, especially continuing the charity work of comrade Le Phuoc Tho.
Immediately after the memorial service, comrade Le Phuoc Tho's coffin was moved to the hearse. Comrade Le Phuoc Tho's burial took place the same day at his hometown cemetery (Hamlet 5, Tan Loc Dong Commune, Thoi Binh District, Ca Mau Province).
