(QNO) - This afternoon, January 11, the Board of Directors of the Quang Nam Bank for Social Policies (CSXH) held a meeting to evaluate the results of policy credit activities in 2023 and deploy tasks for 2024.

According to the report of the Bank for Social Policies, Quang Nam Branch, the total social policy capital in the area as of December 31, 2023 was more than 7.4 trillion VND (an increase of more than 969.5 billion VND compared to the beginning of the year, an increase of 15%). By the end of 2023, the total outstanding debt of 20 policy credit programs reached more than 7.4 trillion VND (an increase of nearly 964 billion VND compared to the beginning of the year), completing 100% of the 2023 plan with 141,868 customers with outstanding debt.
Policy credit for the sustainable poverty reduction program has outstanding loans for poor households, near-poor households, and households that have just escaped poverty of nearly VND3 trillion (accounting for 39.7% of total outstanding loans) with 63,251 households still in debt. Policy credit for the new rural construction program has outstanding loans of more than VND5.8 trillion, accounting for 79.1% of total outstanding loans with 126,963 households still in debt. Policy credit in the national target program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas has outstanding loans of nearly VND2.6 trillion, accounting for 39.8% of total outstanding loans with 49,916 households still in debt.
In parallel with focusing on accelerating disbursement progress to meet capital needs for economic recovery and development, the Bank for Social Policies, Quang Nam Branch, has closely coordinated with socio-political organizations to consolidate and improve credit quality, urge, collect and handle risky debts. As of December 31, 2023, the total bad debt of the entire branch was more than VND 12.6 billion (accounting for 0.17% of total outstanding debt).

Mr. Le Hung Lam - Director of the Bank for Social Policies, Quang Nam Branch, assessed that in 2023, the Board of Directors directed the provincial Bank for Social Policies to continue to mobilize central capital, promote mobilization of local capital, focus on disbursement to promptly meet capital needs for poor households, near-poor households and other policy beneficiaries.
In 2023, policy credit activities helped 3,012 poor households, 3,568 near-poor households, 1,628 newly escaped poverty households and 1,092 households in disadvantaged communes to borrow capital to invest in production and business development. Jobs were created for 13,115 workers, nearly 200 workers went to work abroad for a limited period and 15 people who had just completed their prison sentences were given jobs...
Regarding the direction of Quang Nam policy credit activities in 2024, Mr. Le Hung Lam said that priority will be given to lending capital to poor households, near-poor households, and households that have just escaped poverty; lending to poor districts, poor communes, and communes building new rural areas. Continue to expand outstanding loan growth while improving credit quality to ensure capital safety.
