This year, the tournament continues to feature world golf legend Tiger Woods and his son Charlie Woods (14 years old). The best achievement of Tiger Woods and his son was second place in this tournament in 2021, just about 10 months after Tiger Woods had a very serious traffic accident that year.
Tiger Woods is currently limiting his participation in professional tournaments on the PGA Tour (the world's leading golf tournament system, equivalent to the Masters tournaments in tennis), due to health reasons.
Only at the PNC Championship, Tiger Woods played the entire tournament, because at the PNC Championship golfers do not need to walk between holes (specialized carts are allowed). In addition, at the PNC Championship, Tiger Woods wanted to participate to support his son.
Before this year's tournament, Tiger Woods said: "This tournament is a great gift to be able to share my love of golf with Charlie. My father and I are really looking forward to playing at the PNC Championship this year."
"My father and I get to compete with many great father-son pairs in golf. This is a very special occasion," Tiger Woods added.
The 2023 PNC Championship takes place from December 16 to 17. In addition to Tiger Woods and his father, this year's tournament will feature Justin Thomas (former world number one) and his father Mike Thomas, Nelly Korda (former world number one female golfer, current Olympic champion) and her father Petr Korda.
In addition, Lee Trevino (84 years old) and his son Daniel Trevino are the father-son duo who have competed continuously every year in this tournament, since the PNC Championship was born in 1995 until now.
