Continue to warn of impersonating social insurance agency staff to defraud people

Warning of fraud impersonating Social Security agency.

Recently, the Social Insurance Agency (SIA) received a complaint from Ms. T. residing in Cau Giay District, Hanoi about receiving a phone call from a person claiming to be an officer of the State Treasury. This person informed Ms. T. that she was one of the few lucky people to receive a gift worth 20 million VND in cash, because she had participated in the health insurance for many years.

However, to receive the gift, Ms. T. must pay a fee of 1.1 million VND and will receive 2 more boxes of milk worth 900,000 VND. The subject emphasized that Ms. T. only needs to pay 1.1 million VND to the delivery person when she receives the 2 boxes of milk and does not have to pay any other fees.

Regarding the lucky bonus, the subject said that the Director and accountant of the State Treasury of Cau Giay District would come to Ms. T's house to give it to her. To make sure she was not scammed, Ms. T. went to the headquarters of the State Treasury of Cau Giay District to meet the subject directly, but this subject avoided her with the excuse of "being on vacation". Ms. T. asked for more information about this person's job position, but the subject was evasive and only said that he worked at the Insurance of the State Treasury of Cau Giay District. Suspecting that she was scammed, Ms. T. went to the Social Insurance agency of Cau Giay District to verify and was told that the above information was completely incorrect.

Similarly, recently, there have been a number of websites, Zalo, Facebook, phone numbers... impersonating agencies, civil servants, and employees of Binh Duong province's Social Insurance to take advantage of and defraud people who need to resolve work, consult on social insurance, unemployment insurance, and health insurance policies.

Specifically, when accessing a personal Facebook page, searching with the keyword "Binh Duong Social Insurance" or "Binh Duong Social Insurance", it is easy to see personal Facebook pages and public groups related to consulting and resolving the need to receive one-time social insurance and social insurance, unemployment insurance, and health insurance policies and regimes. Support groups, liquidation, mortgage, buying and selling of social insurance books; consulting services, resolving all kinds of records and documents that require people to pay "commission" fees... take place publicly, with contact phone numbers of the group on Facebook, Zalo... for people to contact.

This is not the first time this type of fraud has occurred. Previously, Vietnam Social Security has issued many warnings about impersonating social security agencies, officials and employees to defraud people. At the same time, it has sent a document requesting relevant authorities to promptly prevent and handle organizations and individuals with violations and widely inform people and employees.

Through the above incident, Vietnam Social Security continues to recommend that people should be more vigilant when carrying out administrative procedures on social insurance and health insurance to avoid being taken advantage of and scammed by bad guys.

In addition, people also need to improve their knowledge of laws and policies on social insurance, unemployment insurance, and health insurance; regularly monitor announcements from authorities about criminal methods and fraud on mass media.
