Actively practicing to prepare for the Phan Thiet Open Cycling Race

Currently, athletes from cycling clubs and cycling enthusiasts are actively training to participate in the 2024 Phan Thiet City Open Cycling Race which will take place on the morning of April 14 at Vo Van Kiet Park.

Every day at 5am, athletes gather at Lotte Mart Phan Thiet roundabout to check their bicycles and racing equipment. Every day, the racers will practice on the Hung Vuong - Nguyen Thong - Vo Nguyen Giap route. This is one of the routes that will be officially used for competition, so the athletes practice very actively to get used to the roads.

Racer Vo Thi Minh Huong shared that although she is a woman, she is still excited to participate, the main purpose is to satisfy her passion for cycling and to improve her health. These are opportunities to promote the development of sports, as well as attract tourists to Phan Thiet. Racer Vo Trung Nam said that as an amateur cyclist, participating in tournaments like this will give her the opportunity to exchange and learn from each other's experiences, improving her professional skills and techniques in competition.

This year's competition includes individual and team competitions. For men, the 50km race is divided into 2 groups: from 18 to 40 years old and from 41 to 60 years old. For women, from 18 to 50 years old, the 25km race. The women's race will start at Vo Van Kiet Park and move along the routes in the center of Phan Thiet City. For men, the official start is at Hung Vuong Street (Lotte Mart roundabout area), moving through routes such as: Nguyen Thong, Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Vo Nguyen Giap... and finishing at Vo Van Kiet Park.

Mr. Nguyen Nam Long - Vice Chairman of Phan Thiet City People's Committee said that the routes included in the competition all pass through famous tourist destinations and have very beautiful scenery. This year, many units outside of Phan Thiet have registered to participate, the preparation stages have also been basically completed; hopefully the competition will attract a large number of people and tourists to watch.

According to the Organizing Committee, the tournament aims to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of Phan Thiet - Binh Thuan homeland (April 19, 1975 - April 19, 2024) and the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024). In addition, the tournament also promotes the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", regular physical exercise among all classes of people.
